The Black Cherry Bombshells
The Black Cherry Bombshells is © John Zito & Anthony Trovarello
Ultra-violent girl gangs fight for supremacy of a doomed future where all men have been mutated into flesh eating zombies. In Las Vegas the Black Cherry Bombshells, Led by the outcast Regina, are gaining a reputation as the baddest bootleggers in town. That doesn't sit well with a powerful, local crime boss; the woman they call 'The King.'

BCB is femme-tastic! 'Specially that Slamazon *reeow* =^..^=
"Shut your stupid ginger face..." has got to be the line of the week.

She's rad and one mean girl!
Hey guys, nice new character intro. I like redheads!

Rey, zombie white tigers are a part of any well balanced comic book. I'm glad you enjoy the woman eating fur ball.
Thanks guys :)
Ratty bitch.
Great page boys and girls.
This comic is tons of fun! I love it. Anything with zombie tigers has a place in my heart.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to stop by and say HELLO and thanks for reading...lot's of good stuff coming up. It's been a blast working on this strip! Keep your eyes out every Wednesday for new strips.
I'm really reminded of GRINDHOUSE when I read this. bravo.
haha hell yes. "son of my bitch".
i love the way your entourage evolves so much so quickly.
great update guys.
Welcome to the new BCB teammates!
Hey guys and gals!
Just wanted to stop in and say "hello" and thanks for all your support! I'm having a blast lettering, and I'm glad everyone seems to be having a great time reading! :)
Cheers!
AH HA HA HA! I'm adding that to my vocabulary as of NOW.
Abra-Perazza? LOL
Hey Everyone!!!
Just wanted to pop in and say Hi and say thanks for all your interest in BCB! I have only been with the BCB team for a short whil, having taken over coloring duties for Alchemy (Al Bruno) due to his increased RL commitments, but I am having fun and I hope y'all are too.
Sorry I haven't posted before now but I have been, and still am, neck deep in Deadlines (ugghhh). I just wanted y'all to know that I am around and I do read the comments, even if I don't post often, and I thank you for them (the good and the bad), feebdback is the only way we know if we are doing a good job of if there are things we need to improve on.
Ok enough rambling for now. If y'all have any questions for me, you know concerning colors mostly, post 'em up and I will do my best to answer them.
~Chris
I can admit when i'm wrong. Sacha, I apologize for being disrespectful toward you, women, and women in comics. I take all the stuff I said back. Thanks for pointing it out,
umm... is it just me or are some of the things Rudis is saying kind of... umm... misogynistic?
I get that you're joking, but this is a hard enough industry as it is. It's not ok to make suggestive comments about Sacha - she's a talented artist, a busy woman, and a role model, and as such she deserves the same respect you would give to her male counterparts.
I'm a female creator with a submission in the works, and I would hate it if my talkback was full of these kinds of remarks.
*Sheldon, point taken under consideration. but i disagree. seventy years of print comics prove you wrong. especially when pay is a motivational factor.
*tonytrov - thank you. you adressed two major grievances in a very cool way. you responded to the mob, and you let us know you are working toward our satisfaction. and you responded basically immediately. you did good. that goes for sacha too on the immediacy, but....
*Sacha, Queen of bombshells ( i saw your myspace pics - sexxy. ). You can draw pages at school, plus you can draw them while you drive on your way home! plus you can draw in the tub! you can manage two pages a week, if you'd only be willing to draw while you dump! you know what i mean!
Thank you for wasting your prescious time on us today, waste thirty seconds everyday responding to us, and we'll love you for it! tell us we aren't worth you time, and we'll love you slightly less.
i feel that a myth needs to be dispelled here.
The more people you have working on a project, especially if they don't LIVE IN THE SAME BUILDING/ABODE, it normally takes longer to create anything than if one person was doing it.
Rudy-
You're right. I love Zuda and have been following the page since it started. I should be more friendly. Oh and we're working on getting more strips out faster.
Spider Jerusalem-
Your name is cool.
Well Hello all, and to especially rudis to whom I am commenting. Sorry if we have not been more active to responses that people have written on zuda. We are a busy bunch, most of us with full time jobs and working the comics and side projects on any free time that we have. For your information I sometimes have 3 major projects I must work on, with crazy deadlines; as well as teaching. So, I'm sorry to admit that I don't have the time to respond to comments. My work must be done before I can do anything else...so I had a bit of free time this afternoon to respond to you ALL now before I get back to my drawing table to do another project. Thank you so much for your support and enjoy the new strips that'll be coming out every Wednesday. Support your artists, it's the most important job in the world. :)
Let's here it for wendsday! Another new strip. I've been dying to get a glimpse of this since last week's came out. Sorry to see you go Alchemy! Your a consummate artist, a gracious host and a damn handsome man. Keep up the good work guys. You can never lose with Zombie tigers!
Prior commitments force me to bow out as colorist for the Black Cherry Bombshells. You can read about it and meet my replacements at our blog. [myspace.com/blackcherrybombshells]

I think I'll miss you most of all, Rudy :)
you guys don't respond to your comments here. i'd ask why, but I wouldn't expect a response. I'd think with the furor of your promotional charisma, you'd have a more cutting edge talkback. As for the one page per week updates, I think that is a mistake too. I could see one page updates if you were one creator handling all of the art chores - but you've got like twenty writers, and fifty artists working on this thing. Black Cherry Bombshells, regardless of its merits, is a well hyped comic book. Its going to fall way short on the hype moving this slow. and the scarce replies on the talkbacks leaves your silence open to speculation - are you too timid to talk to your readers? are you too good for us?
if you are not going to give us a comic book with more than one page at a time, at least give us an active letters page.
grrl & guys, you've very few posts on this page. yous don't really engage your readers, except to lead them offsite to a commercial for them to come back here. which is fine if there was anything here to lead them to. but one page per week and neglected feedback leaves this page stagnant and overhyped. you need to watch the trailer for Will smith's hancock, copy his five second speech, and then repeat it here - tell us we deserve better. tell us you'll do better.
or your overhyped popularity will dwindle. You need to live up to your own hype, not fall so short on it. seriously, translate that real world/myspace charisma onto your own comic and feedback. You girl and boys have promise as next generation zuda personalities, and you've won the opportunity to prove yourselves. you need to make us love you, or we are going to hate you.
(I bet they don't post till next week, totally ignoring their feedback, only to give us another commercial for a commercial for bombshells. suprise, suprize).
Sasha, if the hype men won't respond, please consider my plea. Maybe you'll get a second season without engaging your readers on this letter's page, but if you want us to like you, perhaps you the artist will be better suited for responding to your readers, than the writers. Give us some female attention and we'll love you for it, and your comic by association. We're comic book guys, even if you were a dude and you simply had a girl on your zuda avatar, we'd love you for being female. I always get a kick out of being talked to by the creator of Starfish, just because it feels like i'm talking to a girl because that yellow shirted chick on the zuda icon.

If you haven't already, please shoot us a friend request so we can be digital pals.
((One pager's will be enough.))
.
I just don't agree with you here. Waiting a month, atleast, after the strip wins slows the momentum. How many readers will be coming back to this - only to find 1 page updated - and nothing but disppointment.
.
((I think the BCB story covered more ground in 8 pages than any winning submission yet.))
.
I think you are wrong there too.
I think the BCB story covered more ground in 8 pages than any winning submission yet. One pager's will be enough. OR this could just be a slow start like supertron had, then they'll pick up the pace later.
snails pace. This just isn't good enough to play out at this pace for a year.
i know I didn't vote for this but MPD is right 1 screen a week ain't gonna help the story, it's the same problem with road. i guess you could go with a cliffhanger every screen but that might be a bit too much of 1 damn thing after another story structure. Why 1 screen a week, there has to be at least 1 if not more reasons you went the road route insted of like HM, or P for D??? I like the colors a lot more than what I remembered, but 1 screen isn't really enough to make any kind of judgement on. See you in a couple of months i guess......
Yup, every lucky Wednesday.
Hey guys! Are you going to be updating one page a week?
I voted for this I think, but one page updates are not going to cut the mustard for very long. I think Road has already proven that. Night Owls was always a different kettle of fish. Great strips all, but not a great update schedule for this or Road. This isn't a gag strip so I would've thought the 3/4 page update the route to go.

I'm pretty sure Sacha, the BCB's amazingly super talented artist, is also the only female creator to have won at Zuda.
hey, I was reading the comments of Bryy_Miller, and it got me to thinking: how many of the comics on Zuda are created by women? And, has a female creator won a competition yet? It seems to me that this is pretty much a boy's club, which is funny considering how girl-friendly some of these submissions, and especially the BCB, are.
this is so great, I've read it over and over, great art and story. Congrats on the success of it all!
Alrighty alrighty....still getting used to things around here, but this comic was a great read nonetheless. The story seems like a pretty zippy and cooky play on all those types of stories where there's a future society in which the sexes divide up on beliefs (or in this story's case, one's outright dead) and fight for control over what they consider valuable resources. Kinda Mad Max-ish vibe there, which is cool. The female Elvis is just straight up kick ass, and the luchador girl seems kinda sexy in a way. Really nice diversive cast too, and the gang and horror elements add to the story pretty well. I also like the seedy like atmosphere bein' set up. The actual action was a bit confusing to follow, though, but that's likely more on me as I'm kinda tired and wasn't in the right mindset while reading the pages, but even with that going on, it still kicks ass. I also hope that the story touches up on certain social issues and such; there seems to be potential in that regard, as long as it's not done hammy-like and makes the story lose that "seedy danky rough-n-tumble on the edge" quality. Favorited.
you two are missing the point, which is...
...a female Elvis. woowoo! can't wait for updates.
yes i know that but you said i was coming at you with a attitude right? well i wasn't i was trying to make a funny out of something you said... i seen it more as a you setting me up for a punchline like abbott and costello kinda thing
I said that I didn't write it in a hostile nature.
hostile nature? i'm sorry you took it that way but i was in no way being hostile if you notice there are no exclamation points in anything i wrote there.
You'd be surprised. And very nice, coming at me with that attitude. I didn't ask the question in a hostile nature.
yeah i voted for this just because it stared girl but if there was one staring a black guy i would have voted for that one over this one.
come on folks like what they like...they voted for the bombshells because they liked it more then the others.
Not to sound like a douche or anything, but Shannon's comment got me to thinking: how many people voted for this simply because it had women as main characters?
Congrats on the win! You guys rock! Can't wait to see more Black Cherry Bombshell goodness =D
This is the cutest thing ive ever seen! It's nice to see females as powerful little characters for a change, especially in a comic strip. Girls rule!
Thanks, Tony and Johnny for putting our drawing up! It was great to meet you guys at the NYCC. Thanks for the support with the Zuda Invitational!
gabe
Johnny, Tony, the final product is cool. Well done Bombshell Team! And it was great to meet you at NYCC!
