I think that it's uninspired not because you don't have talent...no.. i think you're on the cusp of finding your groove. Your niche. You're just a couple of steps from lighting it up.
My thing is the story content. It's been done before. It's uninspired because Kevin Grevioux has already written and produced this movie.

RKB has some points on this.

BUt all in all, it's a good start. And it gives us, the viewership, a chance to watch you and your work grow.

I can't wait to see where it goes.

Problem with all these vampire stories like underworld unless you're a vampire you just don't empathise with the main characters. At least vampire Hunter D, D was a dampiel.

I must also agree with the others. These characters, and this setting has been done to death. Nothing new here worth noting I saw. I must also agree with the point of you needing a writer. Your art is great, but like so many of the original Image titles it seems you are making a story around what you think is cool to draw. This is also why most of those titles failed. You do however have a future in comics, just not the writing of them. Stick with your art and you can get somewhere.

Hello Lucky.
************************************************************
Let's talk about the whole Underworld/Blade/Bloodhunter/Celadore/Buffy/white-wolf vampire rpg's thing.
***********************************************************
The main character, and the whole werewolves vs. vampires thing reminds me a lot of underworld. I know you probably have twists and turns and a new spin planned on the whole Vamp v. Wolf story, but I didn't see those, or hints of those here in the 8 screens. Caanan's Celadore got compared to Buffy because you had a cute bad-ass girl fighting vampires. It also had said girl being killed and brought back in the body of a kid, and said kid (now a ghost) want's her body back. it isn't like Buffy at all except for the babe killing vampires, stories going off in completely different directions. Bloodhunter had the tough-guy with a sword quality of Blade, but it also had most humans dead, and vampire purists that only fed off human's who got to be really inbred and messed up over time. Blade was a cool film, but the folks over at white-wolf though the vampire families in that movie looked a lot like their vampire 'clans', still the whole day-walker thing was a nice touch. Take what's gone before and put your on spin on it, i didn't see any of that with this story, and that really brought it down for me. I know your thinking 'it's not underworld at all, I'm going to do this or that, and go in a different direction' I don't doubt you are, but I need to see at least hints of what is going to make this vampire story of yours stand apart from the rest in the 8 screens you have. I don't think you would have sent it in to Zuda if all you had in mind was Underworld fan-fiction, i think you should get more credit than that.
***********************************************************
SCREEN 1 GREAT SCREEN!!!! It really grabbed my attention, and i really enjoyed your art. Of course you have text boxes, I know the way you set the story up you need them to intro the world here, and the cast of character's so i get it. You also didn't use them too much so thanks for that.
********************************************************
Blood thirstier: i and others have said this before, if your not sure the english sounds 'right' just post a message on the message boards, and I'm sure someone will be glad to help you stop lines like that from slipping through. if it was in dialogue you could always say that's just how the character talks, you can't really do something that clunky in a text box though.
************************************************************
It is such a strong opening image, but when you said war with the werewolves, the first thing people think off is Underworld. This put's a expectation in people's minds of how the story is going to go, you need to do something in the other 7 screens to show them this is not a re-tread.
***********************************************************
Again, really good art throughout.
************************************************************
SCREEN 2 Nice action shot's but using a katana, you know the Underworld/Blade comparing is coming, you needed to do something else to standout. The font is very easy to read, but the text didn't really grab me.
**********************************************************
SCREEN 3 Great action page again. Not having a slash sound effect added to the effectiveness of it. At first seeing a head cut-off I was wondering where the hell is the blood??? Then I thought maybe vamps, being dead don't have blood to gush out of them, more like it leaks out like syrup. i tend to project onto comics I read, but that's what i came up with to answer my, where's the blood question, or maybe you didn't think a kill bill style fountain of red would make it onto Zuda????
*********************************************************
SCREEN 4 nice HAHA moment with the talking head not believing she bested him/ it. I also enjoyed their dialogue here on this page. Very good pay-off to the mini-cliffhanger you set up of click to the next page to see what happens.
**********************************************************
SCREEN 5 The Hunter's they are my... etc; got a little heavy handed here, but I like the guy with the war-hammer. Yeah I remember a guy with a war-hammer in blade, but it's a cool weapon. It was a expected team shot, but I wish you would have made it stand out more art/ and character-wise.
************************************************************
SCREEN 6 I really enjoyed the panel layout/ composition on this screen, esp the way you intro'ed the watcher staring down at them. Please anyone and everyone never name another character in a vampire story victor or viktor, or anything like that ever again! ;) :) Some of the dialogue sounded a little off here, but i kind a fan-winked that away. Really old vampires probably would talk really weird.
**********************************************************
SCREEN 7 This was a reveal the bad-guy screen, but I thought the layout of the screen was done well. I would have liked to have known more about him at least more hints to just how bad he is and why in these 8 screens.
**********************************************************
panels 4 and 5 YES!!!! you brought back real thought-balloons and not text boxes who just pretend to be thought balloons. Thanks for that. If were going to go inside the mind of the main villain, it should be a stranger more scary trip than his master plan thing. It would have got me more involved with the story if his thoughts were more interesting to read.
************************************************************
SCREEN 8 Nice cliff-hanger ending and i enjoyed the layout of this screen. Very strong note to end on.
**********************************************************
Art/ colors/ letters all fine. I just wish with the story you would have done something to stand out from all the vampire stories we have seen before. 3/5 stars from me.

Best art, action and figure work in the group, but the story is way too decompressed / drawn out for having only eight pages to work with and when the series isintended for a format that delivers just one page a week. Some more backgrounds in the art would be nice too.

Hmm, I'm not sure if you were intentionally going for a title that screams 'derivative fan fiction' or not, but I guess it's constructive criticism to share with you how it comes across to me. It's all very cool and catwalk-aliscious protagonists, but (to endlessly echo the comments already on here) you're going to have to do something extra special to transcend the family-sized bucket of blood n' vamps your chosen genre slops you in with. Not sure if you've done it here to be honest. But best of luck with further endeavours, you're a talented artist.

This is a hard one to judge, because your art is outstanding and trumps most stuff submitted here...but at the same time the writing is really awful. "More blood thirstier" is just bad grammar, and "returning the favor" of someone who almost killed you means you plan to "almost" kill him. Try teaming up with a writer for your next submission...you'd be unstoppable.

The art is pretty good. You have a great use of light and shadow and color in general. The only real problem I have is that you characters have no emotion. They look like manicans. Also, there is a big inconsistancy issue with dawn on panels 1 and 3 of page six. She looks squat in the third panel. Now, I do fall into the category of "don't care about vampires" but I think the major thing holding this back isn't that you use vampires, its the lack of emotion in the story (going back to the first point) and the overall familiarity with other vampire fiction. Theres nothing really unique here, I've seen vamipre's hunt vampires and werewolves versus vampires all before. And done really well at that. You haven't introduced anything that would seperate it from anything else we've already seen in vampire fiction. Even your title is a very, sort of, stereotypical vampire story title. I think thats really the biggest thing holding you back, theres nothing really new here.

You did, however, remind me of how hot Ali Larter is. Very very hot indeed.

Congrats on getting into the competition! I'll have to echo several of the comments already made here. You're facing an uphill battle to win so soon after Blood Hunters (just bad luck.) I would have liked to see more attention paid to the details. Stronger character designs, more backgrounds, more variance in facial expressions, etc. It's clear that you have artistic talent and are a good visual storyteller. I'd just encourage you to push yourself to spend a little more time on your pages. This kind of comic with big splashes and visuals calls for more. I'm pretty sure you're capable of it. Best of luck.

Excellent art. You make good use of blacks. The placement of word balloons makes the story a bit confusing, though, and the sudden use of thought balloons on page seven was abrupt. The whole storyline of vampires, humans, and werewolves conducting wars upon each other has been mined to death.

1) I love the blend of noir and super-hero style artwork.
2) page 7 and 8 could use just a tad tweaking on pacing, and lighting.
3) Dialogue is only so-so, appropriate for the plot (great speach bubbles btw, a little jumbled, but if you read them carefully they are well done.
4) storyline, deadhorse, wish i could say private message me and we could brainstorm other monsters to work with, but maybe we can chat on the msg boards.

The artwork focus only on characters and the fight poses (Like a lot of 90's superhero comics). This results in a poor backgrounds and context of the scenes. In spite of that it seems that it has a "Underworld Style" with a lot of action. Good Luck.

I would like to thank all of you for your kind comments, critiques, and support. I really appreciate them all. ILLINEST: yes, spot on. English is my second language ^_^.

Although this story is about the final war between the vampires and the werewolves, my real focus will not be just about the war itself, but also about the experience that the main character has gone through, something we deal in our real life, which is hatred. There are some things that we kept in our heart which can ultimately bring death to our soul. This story is merely an instrument for me to make a point about that issue. In the first 8 pages I wasn’t able to tell the story in detail. And I realized that many have associated this story with the Underworld. But I’m definitely taking the story to another direction. I hope that I will have the chance to show them to you.

And as for the art, definitely is going to be improved. Once again many thanks.

I'm with the others a bit on the similarities to Underworld as a concept, and the other vampire story with blood in the title making this a tough sell right now.
I do like what I see and I do remember that many stories in their seeding sound like a bunch of other stuff, its what is done with them in time that makes them stand out. With that, good luck in the competition. I will check back in after reading the other entries.

I'm with illinest on this one- I see some very strong panels and some lackluster ones that could use more background. You're very proficient with portraiture it looks like- some great facial renderings. There have been stronger vampire stories in Zuda and this one doesn't really bring up any new twists- lukewarm for me. Is it me or are there more typos this competition?

I could go over all the cliches, even one's not notices, like the Hunters looked a little Marcus Bros. from Vampire Hunter "D", so I won't get into it. I'll say these specific aspects of the vampyr and werewulf have been done a good bit on this site alone. Not to mention in other forms of entertainment. It's hard to create a completely original concept, of course. This just felt very redundant and played out. Not to discourage. Your art is very eye-catching and your execution of the story through panels and dialogue are top-notch. I will wish you luck, because I'm just one opinion.

Pretty strong entry for visuals. It's a nice looking comic that could use a little bit more background work. Only 2 panels in the first 6 pages with backgrounds? Seriously?
The city looks great on page 8 by the way.
I thought you did a reasonably good job at structuring your story. You got away with a few big splash pages but you still had enough room to establish plot points.
You know, you could have told the exact same story (to this point anyways) but substituted some kind of different monster in place of the vampires and I would've been curious, but instead I'm counting down the seconds until we find out if they're allergic to sunlight or not. Thanks.

I'm guessing that maybe english is a second language for you? Well I guess I HOPE it is cause otherwise I just dissed you pretty bad. It's not my intention to disrespect you, it's just that the writing is awkward in many places. It's good enough for comprehension but not quite up to literary standards.
My advice to you is to create some unique action set pieces. I think you can pull it off and it may help to differentiate your story in a genre where being different can be very difficult.
