This looked to be a very promising fantasy tale. The art is absolutely beautiful and the story has obvious potential to be in a similar vein to Shannara and Wheel of Time. Really hope this shows up somewhere else and continues.

Well everyone the competition is over but never forgotten.

This was a fantastic experience and I’m really glad I was part of it. It was quite a rush to see the Harvest War gather so much interest in only one month. I just want to thank every single person who took the time to log in and take a glance at this story. Andrew and I have other great ideas in store and we’re already working on our next web comic. We’ve had great feedback from everyone and we’ll be taking that to heart with every project we produce from this point on. I’d also like to thank Zuda for giving us the chance to compete with the other talented groups this month. You guys have done something really special for the industry and for all the up and coming creators out there.

Thanks everyone, we hope to see you again, real soon.

JAY - thanks for your comments...

To answer your question about the length of the story, it's a little hard to say exactly how long it would turn out...I would certainly see it taking a fair bit of space to fully describe the story we have planned. Give me 50-60 traditional print issues, and I'll give you a heck of a story. And it's definitely a story with an ending...while the world we've described is an interesting one, possibly with additional stories, the Harvest War story itself has a particular destination, and I can't see keeping these characters going once that conclusion is reached.

As for the history of the Harvest Stone, it's not really part of the story...one of the aspects I really like about the story is the idea that the characters have come to rely on the Stone's power so much that they've become complacent...once it's gone, they need to rediscover how to survive without it. Even the characters themselves aren't aware of its origins...

----------

Shan Bruce Lee - thanks! We're glad you enjoyed it so far. I admit, it's my favorite too, but then I might be a little biased...

---------

kuru - We hope we get the chance to show the rest of the story...we've got lots planned for these characters and think people will enjoy it. Thanks for your support.

-------

and to everyone else...we appreciate your comments and support.

Mpd57 - Thanks for taking the time to give us a look despite your natural aversion to f-f-f-fantasy.

As for what we have next, we pictured a quest for missing jewelery leading up to a dramatic conclusion with a host of elves (and I mean THOUSANDS) singing the benefits of friendship to the moon in full iambic pentameter...how does that sound? Hello...? Mpd57? Are you still there...?

Seriously, I agree that fantasy as a genre can often tread the same old tired ground. For Harvest War, we hope to avoid some of those cliches...for me, one of the most interesting parts of the story we have planned is the fact that these strong warrior-type characters may simply not be able to win things back to the way they were. A bit of a spoiler there perhaps, but my plans for these characters have them moving on, not simply finding the Harvest Stone and restoring the status quo.

I think we've got an interesting and unique story with this comic, and we really hope to get the chance to show all that we've got planned.

Thanks again for the review...

Andrew

This is cool, art nice, this needs to be a published comicbook as well as an online comicbook. I could see it transition to the bigscreen as well.

Question for the writer. How many issues did you see this working out to? Was it ongoing or limited? Oh and why did the kingdom have the stone? Why not any other group?

nice one team

Really awesome...I love the art; it makes me so happy to see something unique and so well-done (not everything has to have the same shiny blue and yellow shadows). And the story makes me think of Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire, two of my favorite book series. Yay! You have my vote.

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone. The responses have been constructive and definitely an ego boost for Andrew and I. I know that we’re down a notch in this competition but I think we still have a great opportunity to gather more fans and votes. With that said please spread the word. If anyone has more questions about the story and artwork Andrew and I are here to answer them.

BTW Captainf, The Wildermen (creatures) don’t speak because when they stole a part of the Harvest Stone they reverted back to a more primitive level. Some do speak (Higher in ranks) but mostly they just kick A$$!

Kingdom of Caledon has crumbled after years of fighting a losing war and time is now running out. Once a great nation, it fell from grace when the heart of its power, the Harvest Stone was shattered and lost. Now, the Stone must be recovered by the survivors before that power falls into the hands of the savage Wildermen. Years ago, the might of Caledon was secured through the magical Harvest Stone, a powerful artifact tended by the clan of mages. Using the Stone, the mages were able to harvest the power of the world around them and wield the forces of the natural elements; wind, water, forest and fire. This power allowed the mages to shape their world and protect Caledon from its enemies. When the primitive Wildermen of Rahus to the north grew tired of living in the shadow of Caledon, they plotted to claim the power of the Harvest Stone as their own. Lead in a brutal ambush by an ambitious young shaman, the Wildermen found their plans go astray when the mages defied them and shattered the Stone, casting its pieces across Caledon and beyond. Having gained the power of only one of the four elements, the Wildermen vowed to destroy the kingdom of Caledon. Transformed by the magic they had stolen, the Wildermen became powerful creatures of the wild, barely recognizable as men at all. With their kingdom in ruins, the Caledonians race against their enemies to find the remaining pieces of the Harvest Stone, not only to restore their former glory, but to ensure their very survival.
