Kingdom of Caledon has crumbled after years of fighting a losing war and time is now running out. Once a great nation, it fell from grace when the heart of its power, the Harvest Stone was shattered and lost. Now, the Stone must be recovered by the survivors before that power falls into the hands of the savage Wildermen. Years ago, the might of Caledon was secured through the magical Harvest Stone, a powerful artifact tended by the clan of mages. Using the Stone, the mages were able to harvest the power of the world around them and wield the forces of the natural elements; wind, water, forest and fire. This power allowed the mages to shape their world and protect Caledon from its enemies. When the primitive Wildermen of Rahus to the north grew tired of living in the shadow of Caledon, they plotted to claim the power of the Harvest Stone as their own. Lead in a brutal ambush by an ambitious young shaman, the Wildermen found their plans go astray when the mages defied them and shattered the Stone, casting its pieces across Caledon and beyond. Having gained the power of only one of the four elements, the Wildermen vowed to destroy the kingdom of Caledon. Transformed by the magic they had stolen, the Wildermen became powerful creatures of the wild, barely recognizable as men at all. With their kingdom in ruins, the Caledonians race against their enemies to find the remaining pieces of the Harvest Stone, not only to restore their former glory, but to ensure their very survival.

The art and storyline for this comic are amazing, why don't we continue this comic!?!
I like the art.
Nice work. Needed some info on what was the fighting for without reading the synopsis.
I like it
Hey just found your comic on here and man I love it! Good start very intriguing, I hope to see more soon. Love your art work too.
Thanks for the feedback Ed. We hope is gets published one day as well.
This looked to be a very promising fantasy tale. The art is absolutely beautiful and the story has obvious potential to be in a similar vein to Shannara and Wheel of Time. Really hope this shows up somewhere else and continues.
hey guys great comics, I hope you find another place to your comic :D
Thanks to everyone for their support and comments throughout the month. Also thanks to the other competitors...it's a real honour to be in the same lineup with such talented people. And finally, thanks to Zuda and DC for the great opportunity...as Kevin says below, we had a lot of fun and learned a lot along the way. We'll be back! In the meantime, you can always contact us at harvestwar@hotmail.com.
You guys are very talented and an all together class act. I hope you submit again, I'd love to see what else you can do.
Well everyone the competition is over but never forgotten.
This was a fantastic experience and I’m really glad I was part of it. It was quite a rush to see the Harvest War gather so much interest in only one month. I just want to thank every single person who took the time to log in and take a glance at this story. Andrew and I have other great ideas in store and we’re already working on our next web comic. We’ve had great feedback from everyone and we’ll be taking that to heart with every project we produce from this point on. I’d also like to thank Zuda for giving us the chance to compete with the other talented groups this month. You guys have done something really special for the industry and for all the up and coming creators out there.
Thanks everyone, we hope to see you again, real soon.

Very, very nice work Kevin and Andrew. I'm anxious to see the rest!
spooky. I like it. I'm a sucker for dystopia though. Hope to watch the rest of the show.
Dear Zuda Competitors/Creators,
I recently started a Zuda fan blog, and I would love to interview all of this month’s creators. If you would be willing to answer 5-10 questions, to be posted on the Zudafan blog, please contact me at: zudafan@gmail.com.
Feel free to check out the blog: zudafan.blogspot.com
Thanks!
Wow, I love the detail and facial structures of the characters! Very Manly xD
You could be on to something guys. Play it the way you describe it and I wish you the best of luck with the project in future. Solid.
AWESOME WORK....this should be a movie like all the other comics that are out there!!
JAY - thanks for your comments...
To answer your question about the length of the story, it's a little hard to say exactly how long it would turn out...I would certainly see it taking a fair bit of space to fully describe the story we have planned. Give me 50-60 traditional print issues, and I'll give you a heck of a story. And it's definitely a story with an ending...while the world we've described is an interesting one, possibly with additional stories, the Harvest War story itself has a particular destination, and I can't see keeping these characters going once that conclusion is reached.
As for the history of the Harvest Stone, it's not really part of the story...one of the aspects I really like about the story is the idea that the characters have come to rely on the Stone's power so much that they've become complacent...once it's gone, they need to rediscover how to survive without it. Even the characters themselves aren't aware of its origins...

Shan Bruce Lee - thanks! We're glad you enjoyed it so far. I admit, it's my favorite too, but then I might be a little biased...
---------
kuru - We hope we get the chance to show the rest of the story...we've got lots planned for these characters and think people will enjoy it. Thanks for your support.
-------
and to everyone else...we appreciate your comments and support.
Mpd57 - Thanks for taking the time to give us a look despite your natural aversion to f-f-f-fantasy.
As for what we have next, we pictured a quest for missing jewelery leading up to a dramatic conclusion with a host of elves (and I mean THOUSANDS) singing the benefits of friendship to the moon in full iambic pentameter...how does that sound? Hello...? Mpd57? Are you still there...?
Seriously, I agree that fantasy as a genre can often tread the same old tired ground. For Harvest War, we hope to avoid some of those cliches...for me, one of the most interesting parts of the story we have planned is the fact that these strong warrior-type characters may simply not be able to win things back to the way they were. A bit of a spoiler there perhaps, but my plans for these characters have them moving on, not simply finding the Harvest Stone and restoring the status quo.
I think we've got an interesting and unique story with this comic, and we really hope to get the chance to show all that we've got planned.
Thanks again for the review...
Andrew
i like it a lot, but its hard to say where its going from here, but i cant wait to know
Killah. Great work, guys!
This might be my favorite comic on Zuda since it started. Great job.
This is cool, art nice, this needs to be a published comicbook as well as an online comicbook. I could see it transition to the bigscreen as well.
Question for the writer. How many issues did you see this working out to? Was it ongoing or limited? Oh and why did the kingdom have the stone? Why not any other group?
nice one team
Thanks for the great feedback mpd57!
Wow! I think this looks amazing! And it's good to see someone trying this type of story here! You've definitely won my vote. - Jim Shelley
Good Luck Boys -- -I know its been a while -- hope this one pays off!!
"A fantasy epic in the making" is what I should've said but it came out like this: http://www.mpd57.blogspot.com
Great job except that it ended too soon...maybe we could do something about that ;) Good luck guys!
Really awesome...I love the art; it makes me so happy to see something unique and so well-done (not everything has to have the same shiny blue and yellow shadows). And the story makes me think of Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire, two of my favorite book series. Yay! You have my vote.
Beautifully drawn and colored. This sets a nice tone for the story you presented. I would agree that some of the lettering could be done better, but well done.
BettyBoop and Conan - (great name btw) Thanks for your comments...we're glad you liked it!
------
andreanichols - this is our first comic together...Kevin did an independently published comic before that. We're really excited to be involved in this contest, and hope to tell the rest of the Harvest War story. We hope everyone enjoys what we've shown so far! Thanks for the support...

bmu - Thanks Adrian!
Very cool comic. I saw your post on digital webbing, but you left no way to contact you.
well, if you are still looking for a colorist check out flickr.com/photos/haloofbees
Great work! Both on the story side as well as the artwork.
Adrian
Love it! Best of the lot! What other stuff have you guys done?
Hey Kevin, do you have a email? I sent you a PM over @ Digital Webbing. I could not find your email. :)
Aaaahhh! Scary for sure--Birds! Eeek! LOVED the shot of the distant castle and the panel where Mattus gets up! Plus Page 7 Rocks! CREEPY monsters of terror and a really cool, detailed sword for the hairy old white guy...Cool!
It's really awesome to see friends actually making their dreams come true; Good Luck with this Andrew! We'd love to see more, keep us posted.
awesome drawing, well designed characters and a pretty compelling story. I'd love to read more. I like the art approach you took...it still holds the mold of a "standard" comic but you've incorporated some personal touches of style...very nice.
LadyWink - I'm hoping you mean that in a good way...;)
Great work! Clearly an Egan had a hand in this...
Thanks for all the great feedback everyone. The responses have been constructive and definitely an ego boost for Andrew and I. I know that we’re down a notch in this competition but I think we still have a great opportunity to gather more fans and votes. With that said please spread the word. If anyone has more questions about the story and artwork Andrew and I are here to answer them.
BTW Captainf, The Wildermen (creatures) don’t speak because when they stole a part of the Harvest Stone they reverted back to a more primitive level. Some do speak (Higher in ranks) but mostly they just kick A$$!
My day has improved after reading this. Great work and good luck.
This is gorgeous! An amazing work! Keep it up!!!
