Rhandom, a champion fighter from Earth, is lost in a far off galaxy. His former employer, an elite secret service group known as the Ministry has framed him for destroying a moon after he uncovered a plot to take over the Democratic Union of Planets. The plot included the capture of a mythical beast who in legend is linked to a great power. Rhandom, along with a bounty huntress named Kayla stumble upon this 'beast' in the form of a small chicken and begin to learn it's mysterious connection to an ancient race of advanced aliens. Discovering these powers in the many ruins scattered about the galaxy might be Rhandom's only chance to stop the Ministry from domination.
It's a sci-fi fight adventure of exciting magnitude!

Very cool strip. I would love to see more.
Dear Zuda Competitors/Creators,
I recently started a Zuda fan blog, and I would love to interview all of this month’s creators. If you would be willing to answer 5-10 questions, to be posted on the Zudafan blog, please contact me at: zudafan@gmail.com.
Feel free to check out the blog: zudafan.blogspot.com
Thanks!
screen 1 i know you said it would take forever, but your in outer space with aliens, so not having the color is a big let down. What could really jump off the screen with all kinds of outer space hues instead ends up gray and blah... Good panel layout on the first screen and sequential art.
***********************************************************
screen 2 all those energy effects would look really nice in color is what I kept thinking... again good panel layout throughout.
*************************************************************
screen 3 ...and the planet goes boom, nice way to start a story that went well with a well written synopsis.
*************************************************************
screen 4 Aliens should be in color. Words were easy to read, and good job on these (whatever they were) interactions.
*************************************************************
screen 5 very well drawn panel, i really enjoyed your pace and art style.
************************************************************
screen 6 nicely put together screen, nice humor of him throwing his jacket on somebody.
***************************************************************
screen 7 good action scene -well done.
***********************************************************
screen 8 loved his line about turning himself in, and cool he caught his cap. So when he shot that alien on the floor (if that's what he did), did he kill him or what??? I didn't get ending on him pulling the trigger???
**************************************************************
Betwen the comic and your synopsis i think you did a fine enough job on the characterization of R and the two main aliens -none of them are deep thinkers but they don't have to be. The no color part killed it for a sci-fi comic on the net though. 3/5 stars no color but a fairly good action story. Not enough action or humor to set it apart from the masses, it seems run of the mill, but run of the mill done very well. It could be you had a lot of twists planned, but I guess we will never know. Kind of like how 'touch of evil' is the best B-movie ever made. Try Zuda again in color next time!!!:)
Love the art design. An overall wonderful read. There's enough intrigue, (who's the maniacally laughing man? Will Rhandom escape?), to keep me coming back. Now get to climbing those ranks. Hope to see more.
"I don't know why, but pg7, panel 4 reminds me of the Circle Jerks" -Ha, I thought the same thing.
Nice job, it was a pleasure to read... 'Rhandom' kinda reminds me of a cheesy power metal band name, but I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. =)
Thanks to those who said positive things!
As for the negative, by all means.
I guess the trick was to convey my story in just 8 screens. To be honest (Illinest and mpd57) I think you guys are reading to far into such a short comic. (mostly mpd57's long glowing review). I think I got the pace and feel of my story rite but I guess I sacrificed characterization to cram in the plot direction I wanted. I work better with long amounts of pages to tell a story. Oh well. I hope you all liked the art!
And the decision not to do color, well that was logistical. Remember that I'm one man doing all of this. I don't have a separate writer/ inker/ toner/ or letterer like they do in the big books. And thinking ahead (however unlikely now) and having done color before it takes FOREVER to do. Id never be able to keep up.
Any way I really appreciate your comments good and bad. At least you're reading it!
Good luck man. You've got my vote.
Cool stuff man!!
keep up the good work. like the drawings, they feel very crisp/bold/sharp/cool.
Also, I liked your work in "Sidescrollers".
looking at a weird tangent on page 8. the sleeve in panel one looks like part of his hair from panel 3.
this introduction made me feel like; 'i hope all the characters lose cause they all seem unpleasant'
not sure who i'm supposed to relate to or enjoy reading about.
the storytelling is clear and good but it seems like a waste of good storytelling. i know WHAT happened but i don't much care WHY it happened, if you follow.
don't understand why it's in black and white. this could've looked a million times cooler in color.
i knew in advance that i'm criticizing a pro this time, or at least a semi-pro, but it feels like a let down to see polished craft misused.
http://www.mpd57.blogspot.com for a review and maybe more!
You deserve better than Ninth!
It definitely stands out from the rest, but I don't think that will be enough. There's so much lush colored stuff this month I'm not sure a b&w comic has a chance. Good luck anyway!
i loved the line work!!! and all the details, the movement, its pretty awesome, i wish you the best of luck!
nice line quality.
i'm still reading the comics of the month, i'll vote soon. but you have a very expresive style!
The fact that "Rhandom" has an "h" in it is seriously distracting to me, and the art on the first few pages is totally incoherant. Somebody smiling? Lightning hands? Explosion? Also, the main character reminds me of Bazooka Joe, from the bubblegum comics... I didn't love it.
mmm i just dig dig this art. the story hasn't really snagged me, though. we'll see ;)
I don't know why, but pg7, panel 4 reminds me of the Circle Jerks
I like the style alot but I think it would benifit alot from color. It needs more of a ballance in the dialogue which takes place on 2 of the 8 pages. Nice look and lines!
Way too much dialogue, but I like the comic strip look. I hope we see more, one way or another.
One of the things this comic has going for it over alot of the other competitiors this month is some really sharp inking. I think some of the scenes with heavy detail can get a bit jumbled, they'd probably look better if you worked the shadow in a little bit more. The action scenes are great, with a solid cartoony element to them that makes it fun to read. The synopsis sounds interesting. I like seeing sci-fi told with a grain of salt, this story looks like alot of fun
I love it Matt! You are so talented :) Good luck with the competition, you have my vote!!
Thanks everyone!
Pretty cool!
Looks great! As always, your inking is supernaturally tight!
Art is fun, and compliments the story well.
I agree with Kevin Colden's comment, "Matt Loux is one of the the best comickers working today. Seriously" - add this comic to Matt's awesome SALTWATER TAFFY and his appearance on the Comic Book Club with the exceptional Timony Twins, as this comic gets a HUGE HUZAAH from me!
Hey Matt! Good luck in the competition!
I liked page 7 a lot.
Matt Loux is one of the the best comickers working today. Seriously
Thanks Caanan, I'm glad you liked Salt Water Taffy (the new one will be out in the fall) Glad you like this too. I promise if i win I'll watch my spelling.
Hey, I bought Salt Water Taffy recently. Was very good. As is this! I gotta say though, as a spelling nazi, watch those uses of it's/its and you're/your. Apart from that, an enjoyable read indeed! :o)
Hmmm. I think I could enjoy this one. The first couple pages had me worried and I wasn't sure where it was going but it picked up. I like the black and white tones in this one. Just a good fun romp through the galaxy. It is in my short list.
Thanks Bobby. this should be an interesting month.
Matt! It's good to see you here on the Zuda! Your comic looks great! Best of luck to you!
