Who is the man called only "E"? He can’t tell you, because he doesn’t know either. What he does know is that he’s tired of being harassed by the little green guys that show up at his door every morning to watch him fight their pets. All that’s about to change, when 2 strangely familiar characters show up to help him in his time of need. But have they really come to help him? Or are they just as confused as he is?

Heh. The lads at Velocity are the good kids, the ones you never hear about.
The lads at Velocity Comics spoke very highly of you.
I AM local! Where did you get wind of my entry?
Excellent art, amusing and interesting story, plus, you're a local lad. You definitely got my vote. Cheers.
Thanks, guys! Be sure to mark me as a favorite and tell all your friends! I'm getting my head kicked in right now by my swarthy...I mean, "worthy"...opponents and could use any help I can get! If you want more "E"--- VOTE FOR MEEEEE!
Great Comic! The story is crazy--different but obviously well crafted--and the art is exceptional. Good stuff!
That is incredible work. I like it very very much, like so much indeed that I´ll vote for it even if I haven´t read the other comics yet. This one is a lesson for people that wants to write comics. And a great piece of entertainment also! Congratulations.
New OMAC page is up @
http://crawdadjoneshouseofennui.blogspot.com/
You get a real good look at the villain that turned into the villain on the last page of this story. And there's another drawing there, too, unrelated to "E", but that you might get a kick out of. Enjoy.
The art is just great, in fact is terrific and it has an 80's style, the story is not bad but I like more the art... great work!!
Lunch--thanks, dude--out of my hands.
New OMAC page is up at the blog! Only a few more pages to go!
http://crawdadjoneshouseofennui.blogspot.com/
CRAWDAD IT'S LUNCHBEN!!!!! I am appalled that you're stuck in #3! The quality of art alone should have you in the #1 spot.
Thanks, Ian-- 'preciate it!
DShidde--I think I'd do a mean Earth Worm Jim, yes. Thanks!
I'm glad you said sometimes Steve. The world would be a different place if your stuff was drawn like this. No offense to you either Mr.Jones, I like your stuff to, and sometimes wish I could draw like you as well. By the by do you remember Earth Worm Jim? I think you would have been perfect for a comic adaption.
Wow that is really strange. In a very intriguing way.
Nice!
Thanks, Jim, Steve--
I had a lot of fun with these pages, I hope it shows.
I have another OMAC page up at http://crawdadjoneshouseofennui.blogspot.com/
Check it out if you get a chance!
Man, this has a really nice 2000AD feel to it! Fast and fun to look at with a hint of a deeper story underneath. Love it!
Love your comic man. I don't want to jinx you or anyhthing but if don't get win here I'll be voting for you in the invitational!
God... I wish I could draw like you sometimes!
-steve
Thanks, vragas!
Troy--I think you're misunderstanding a little of what the OMAC pages are about. The "E" story isn't an adaptation of an old OMAC pitch; those are a set of samples I did years ago to try to get pencilling work. They do, however, have a link to what I did with "E". When I looked at the samples years later, I still liked some of the character designs, so I pulled them over into the "E" story. The motivations of the characters couldn't be more different--the character in the OMAC story was more in line with a megalomaniacal Dr. Skuba; the characters' motivations in this story are unique to the "E" universe. The nature of "E"'s world is completely different from OMAC's world, and hopefully people will want to learn more and vote accordingly. Thanks for the opportunity to help me clear that up, and thanks for stopping by. I very much enjoyed your work on "Golden", btw; nice job and good luck in the competition!
Your comic is excellent! Great art and characters!
"E" or "eh"
i agree with the facts of what Golden's troy is talking about, but not the dislike of this situation (jumping into the middle) to be honest, i kinda dig that i know NOTHING about "E" just yet. what is he like? where is he? why doesn't he know his "sidekicks"? why is he COMPLETELY oblivious? what are his "powers"? why the three eyes? these questions intrigue me to (be able to) read more of the comic and seek those answers!
and, while i'm not a competitor, i think it's (potentially) healthy/fun/natural for other competitors to post in others' areas. i think they can even appreciate each other's works! that's not a jab at troy not being enamored with "E" at all, no offense! basically, what i'm saying is that one man's trash may be another's treasure! woo woo!
Hey Crawdad. It's Troy from Golden. I went over and visited your blog to take a look at your OMAC stuff (because I have always had a soft place for OMAC) and now I realize why "E" bothered me. The story makes sense as an OMAC story but as "E" it kind of left me wondering what in the world is going on. If the story is OMAC you know who he is and you have an immediate background on him. As "E" it just kind of starts off and you kind of wonder who is this guy and why in the world is he being attacked. I know some stories just start off kind of in the middle of things but for some reason that just didn't work for me here. Now, I know I probably just pissed off some people for coming over here on your section but I really felt I needed to express my thoughts after seeing your OMAC pages. I am not trying to put anything down because the art is fantastic and if this were an OMAC story I would have loved it. You do great work and I have a feeling we will be seeing much more of Mr. Jones' work in big places. To anyone mad at me for posting on his page, I apologize. Thanks for giving us your beautiful art Crawdad!
What the?
You definitely rock mister Jones.
Thanks, Leo!
I've uploaded another page of the OMAC tryout pages at http://crawdadjoneshouseofennui.blogspot.com/
Enjoy!
Awesome art you got there man...very professional. Congratulations!
A) Oh, yeah?
B) Thanks!
C) Don't think! Vote!
D) All of the above
“E” ... nice to see DC promoting drug use in the young at last (I don't think). Well at least this one shows some imagination and flair, and yet, what does it all add up to? It looks fantastic! And I really do mean FANTASTIC! Professional level here. It's the combination of skill and absurdity that makes most people think immediately of Mr Monster and strips of that ilk. Wasn't all that quite some time ago tho'. Is it a modern strip or another retro-flavoured tribute to what's gone before? Again, like a lot of the other strips in this competition it all seems a bit familiar, a bit safe, a bit predictable. How the heck does it end up being predictable? With a story like that? It's so wild and free and skilful. It's quite a conundrum! I don't know, really I don't. I think I voted for Supertron a while back, even though that was shoe-horned very badly into a Zuda format and I am irritated by the obviousness of it being hacked down into a different format, but it's difficult not to like. It has a lot of charm, playfulness, skill .... and it is most definitely a COMIC! It's not anything like a pitch for anything else. Thank goodness. I'd be quite happy if I found it as the backup strip in an old indie magazine at a mart for a quid, but as a webcomic? As the future of webcomics? So many problems this month ...
You guys are the ginchiest. Can't thank you enough!
I gotcher back homie:)
What is with the shameless promotion from Neil Kleid (Action, Ohio) and Troy Bowen (Golden) on this message board?!? Granted, "E" and Crawdad Jones are formidable, and I understand your fear...but WTF? Crawdad, you are a god to me.
In Neil's spirit of promoting. Come on over and vote for Golden. I know you will love it. And I am starting a little incentive contest. Here is the deal. The person who gets the most people to the Golden pages will receive a one of a kind sketch of Kintaro signed by Scott and me. Get all of your friends, loved ones and associates to stop by Zuda and take a look at Golden. If they leave a message stating that you sent them over there I will keep track and the person with the most referrals by May 23rd will receive the signed Kintaro sketch as well as a signed copy of the script. Sound fun? If you have any questions about it drop me a note here or over in the Zuda talk back section. Don't waste any time. Start getting those folks over there now!
If you want to see a picture of the sketch you will receive go here...

Enjoy! This is a taste of things to come.
Troy
Its weird and crazy, but its just the kind of weird and crazy I like.
Alright! "E" at #3! Just a couple of more steps to #1!
Those OMAC pages are awesome! Just imagine Crawdad whipping up some new screens for "E"............OK, snap out of it, wipe that drool and vote for "E"!
Just so you all know. I don't know Crawdad I just really like this comic.
NC
Damn Kerry. I Wish I actually had a snide comment after talking so much trash.
No, really though. That looks awesome. Your more traditional comic colors do well here, and you can definitely pull of a composition of the more complex nature.
Inking and Digital?
New (old) OMAC page is up at the blog. Check it out for early inspirations that eventually turned into this strip.
http://crawdadjoneshouseofennui.blogspot.com/
This was originally a pitch for an OMAC book??? ohhh man, that woulda been sweet! but.... then again... "E" itself is pretty rad. i demand it win. it's fun and visually lush and has an oddly comforting oldschool feel to it.
i feel cheated out of an "instant winner"
I like it, it almost has a Mr. Monster/Megaton Man feel to it.
Your comic is oddly wonderful.
For some reason, the style and story reminds me of something I would've picked up in the 1980's.
I think it's fantastic!!!
-L.
Hey, E-Men (and women...),
After the first ranking, ACTION, OHIO is in first place! But this contest isn't over and we're going to have to fight to stay there... so please register, favorite and vote for us all throughout May.
To promote the comic, I'm taking ACTION, OHIO on the road - I'll be appearing as a guest of the Comic Book Club, New York's only improvised comic book talk show, this Tuesday night at 8pm! Please come and celebrate with me, Alex Zalben, Justin Tyler and Pete LePage as we talk comics, Zuda and the wonder that is beer. Oh, we'll go get beer after. Yes, we will:
Also, 'dig' us at Digg, friend us at MySpace and watch this space for upcoming interviews, contests and ACTION EXCITEMENT!
Bruce and Harriet Nyborg!?!
Aww, Crawdad, you've no idea of how much voting respect you've gained with that arcane reference.
-Rob
AWESOME!
You got it Crawdad! I also spread the word.
"E" for the win!
Thanks again, NC--I really appreciate the good word!
Hey Crawdad, Thanks for posting it! Your artwork is amazing. I really like that Easter Bunny pic! HAHA! You were a contender for my vote and you just earned it!
I hope people who like this vote for and don't use excuses like "I can't read the lettering (look what they did on Road) or "This would be better in print" when it can be on the web here at Zuda then head over to print on your local comic shop shelves with that nice DC logo on the cover!
Good Luck!
If Bruce and Harriet Nyborg show up, I'm screwed!
NC--thanks for checking out the blog! I hadn't looked at some of that stuff in a while, so it was fun to look at it again after so long.
Third place, you're fired.
Second place.... a set of steak knives.
HAH!!! I once played Ricky Roma!!! The new Zuda leads are for CLOSERS!!!!
