It’s 1974 and the Bane half-sisters have come to the swamps of Hooper County to find their loot stolen from them. Psycho-killers, monsters and mutants are waiting for them, and an upset gang of cannibal bikers is hot on their heels, but the victims are not the ones you think!

Wow! Over 8000 views!
Dig it :)
Sorry you didn't win, but I look forward to seeing you back in the contest.
Thank you Farlander, and very BIG thanks to all the people who voted for ShockPopTerror! The support was overwhelming! It was a great experience all around.
As for the future please go to my blog some time to see what I'm cooking: http://jmringuet.blogspot.com
And I will be back on zuda faster than you think (something is in preparation)!
ShockPopTerror will stay on the backburner for now...
JM, sorry you didn't creep past number 6. This competition is tough, and keeps getting tougher, but I am a little surprised this one didn't end higher. Best luck to all your future endeavors, keep us posted on what you're working on next!
"I Eat The Ass" - No. ALthough they aree the definition of hot.

I love the first page of this!
Necrophage: yeah I think the story is (would have been) a lot of fun. Unfortunately I didn't put enough teaser elements for what comes next in my 8 pages. This is too much of a soft intro.
This looks like alot of fun. Nice coloring.
No changes in the top rankings, sadly.
It is definitely a sign of great and wonderful things to come!
wow!
I'm the 6666 viewer...
should this be a sign?...
I'm happy you liked it JM! It was fun to do... :)
CrashLanden rules and rocks!
This has to be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Wow!
Awesome art, perfect ‘emulation’ of the style… Words are not enough to describe this!
If you find another used copy please get it for me!
I found a book you may or may not be interested in Jean-Michel....

I hope the links work right.
Thanks RKB and TheRealGaston.
I feel like you itsallgood, I don't know why this is still stuck in 6th. Obviously I did something wrong.
WTH? The art on this is great. I love the distressed tintype feel.
You have my vote, and my hope in a climb up the rankings.
This should be much higher.
Hello to all the new readers of SPT!
I have a request for you guys: please take a minute to register (it's the 'sign up' button at the top right of this page), and then come back to this page (http://zudacomics.com/node/1480) and click the VOTE button just on the right of the comic.
There is still plenty of time and an upset is possible. If you support ShockPopTerror! it can win the competition, or garner enough interest from DC or another publisher.
BY VOTING FOR SHOCKPOPTERROR YOU GIVE ME A CHANCE TO CREATE!
THANK YOU!
Hey John, let's hope it works that way.
And for fans of classic horror and British horror with a rich historical background I highly recommend 'Lords of Misrule' from Radical comics, a beautiful hard back graphic novel.
Looks terrific to me – every bit as wonderful as your other recent classic, modern horror monsterpiece The Lords of Misrule! (available now from all good stockists). Not that I have a vested interest or anything...
You are Number Six. You will soon be the new Number One. Be seeing you...

Yeah I'd really like to tell the story of the Berryman family, including their mother. And I have more monsters waiting in the aisles.
Bloody, violent, hot chicks... Oh and monsters too. I loved the southern Bigg Momma (Waterboy) character and want to see where this goes! Great fight scene. Not a bit of drag in the story.
Tony: it definitely wasn't my intention to offend you or anybody, and I have been told my sense of humor is rather blunt.
All of 72 people have viewed that thread on Benbo so that proves nobody hates you! :)
Good luck with your entry, it's a cool concept, hope to see what happens next.
The problem was that to a scan it reads 'Vote for me if you hate Tony...' followed by a long break before you go '...Joke'. Now I've seen the whole thing (thanks, btw) I can see how you intended it, but I think it did backfire a little in the styling. But thanks for the explanation, all I ask is that perhaps you try a different tack in the future :-)

Feel free to shoot at Pluck though, I think that's the serious winner this month... :-) (Joke! Don't do that!)
Tony: this was posted on the Bendis board as a joke, and clearly labelled as a joke. If you know the board you know that people there enjoy that kind of dark humor. I love your work and I really enjoy 'Where Evil Dares'. This was humor but if it bothers you I will remove the post. Sorry somebody took this out of context :)
Best of luck with this contest, I think you have the best chance to finish on top.
Just had an email, pasting some text you guys put in a forum...
"If you do hate Tony Lee or just don't like him then vote for me at Zuda.com so I can beat him!"
Really? I mean, REALLY? Is this what week three begins with?
Thanks for the great great comments guys!
I have decided to reward the people who support me. At the end of the month I will draw a random name or two from the voters pool and mail them an original signed sketch. If you want to be part of it, just email me at shockpopterror@gmail.com and give me your registered name on Zuda, that’s it!
Don't hesitate to tell everybody about it. Collectors of original art, it's your chance!
Thanks again!
I love your art! It has so much energy in it! And the coloring is gorgeous. Anyone who hasn't seen JM's book, SPARKS, should absolutely check it out right away. It may be the best independant comic I've ever read.
Glad to see you moving up the ranks, my man. Some cool entries this month, but loved yours. As soon as I saw 9th place, I pushed the vote button with anger. ;) Heh. Really hope you can pull out a win. The sort of reversed-roles are seemingly a simple idea, yet genius since no one thought of it first. The adventures could be great.
I really love the texture of this comic. The lighting on the characters reminds me of like an old school Scooby Doo cartoon....but with balls. Great stuff.
kingofsnake: thanks! I think you're right on many points. Thansk for the input!
jesterb769: I beg to differ sir, and say you are wrong! There is much more to it than a bit of violence and T&A. The story (I already wrote it all) is going to a lot of different places. I'm using the exploitation/slasher/grindhouse/horror genre as a springboard for a lot denser plot with hopefully some depth to it (at least that's what I'm trying to do). Maybe I should have hinted at it more in the first 8 pages, and that's my failing. The only thing I can give you at this point is my word.
Thanks!

Colors are spot on, beautiful style, and while I'd say some of it was a bit hokey... I think an older style of comic is exactly what you're going for, and you're pulling it off splendidly. Grats :)
.
But downside is, I'm not sure how this could hold up for 60 pages. It feels like we've pretty much seen the comic in the first 8... and there's only so far gratuitous explosions, chainsaws and T&A can go (though it is nice to look at ;)
I think more than anything else, I love the "feel" you establish in the first couple pages. I just bleeds this great exploitation tone that is a lot of fun, and usually does really well in the competition. The art is strong, and the texture you use on the pages really ups the ante for the whole project. The lettering and graphic design work works with you to establish exactly what you want it to. I think the biggest problem is that the pace of the story is elevated to match the zuda submission size. The exploitation movies this honors usually slow build to something, they revel in their mood, whereas this jumps us roughly into fight scenes at an elevated rate, so they seem rather gratuitous, and not the good kind of gratuitous. It's still a strong entry, and while I'd suggest working on your story in the future, you're already doing pretty well
RKB: wow! That is a great review! I'm speechless. I am so happy to see that a little something I put a lot of work in can be entertaining to so many people.
Makes my day!
waow! really impressed...
one more vote for you :)
Nicely done JM this is good old fashion horror fun and it's best

Nice colour matching, dark and gritty. The few frames of the story were kind of predictable except the whole swamp golem thing :)
Really like the art, here. Perfect atmosphere.
Way to go JM!
Didier ;)
Nico, RC: thanks a lot guys! You're the best!
Bluepencil, Remspoon: you just rock. You do.
frequentcontributor: thanks a lot for the vote it's a honor. It's going up in ranking so this is just the beginning. I'm the dark horse coming from left field out of the blue! (maybe).
mpd57: the brunette is Pandora, the blond is Nemesis. They have the same father (Wes Bane) but different mothers.
I have a serious question ... which hot babe is which?
This is just AMAZING! JM, you manage to create such a complete and unmistakable mood from page one! I'm so close to hearing the music and accents that i'm questioning my sanity. This is defining, distinctive, and unapologetically stylish and fun, and i wish more projects would completely envelope the reader like this does. I can't wait to see what you do next! Best of luck!
Just cast my vote for you guys. Looks like you're down in the polls, but keep up the good work, anyway.
