JM, sorry you didn't creep past number 6. This competition is tough, and keeps getting tougher, but I am a little surprised this one didn't end higher. Best luck to all your future endeavors, keep us posted on what you're working on next!

Necrophage: yeah I think the story is (would have been) a lot of fun. Unfortunately I didn't put enough teaser elements for what comes next in my 8 pages. This is too much of a soft intro.

Hey John, let's hope it works that way.
And for fans of classic horror and British horror with a rich historical background I highly recommend 'Lords of Misrule' from Radical comics, a beautiful hard back graphic novel.

The problem was that to a scan it reads 'Vote for me if you hate Tony...' followed by a long break before you go '...Joke'. Now I've seen the whole thing (thanks, btw) I can see how you intended it, but I think it did backfire a little in the styling. But thanks for the explanation, all I ask is that perhaps you try a different tack in the future :-)

Feel free to shoot at Pluck though, I think that's the serious winner this month... :-) (Joke! Don't do that!)

Tony: this was posted on the Bendis board as a joke, and clearly labelled as a joke. If you know the board you know that people there enjoy that kind of dark humor. I love your work and I really enjoy 'Where Evil Dares'. This was humor but if it bothers you I will remove the post. Sorry somebody took this out of context :)
Best of luck with this contest, I think you have the best chance to finish on top.

Glad to see you moving up the ranks, my man. Some cool entries this month, but loved yours. As soon as I saw 9th place, I pushed the vote button with anger. ;) Heh. Really hope you can pull out a win. The sort of reversed-roles are seemingly a simple idea, yet genius since no one thought of it first. The adventures could be great.

kingofsnake: thanks! I think you're right on many points. Thansk for the input!

jesterb769: I beg to differ sir, and say you are wrong! There is much more to it than a bit of violence and T&A. The story (I already wrote it all) is going to a lot of different places. I'm using the exploitation/slasher/grindhouse/horror genre as a springboard for a lot denser plot with hopefully some depth to it (at least that's what I'm trying to do). Maybe I should have hinted at it more in the first 8 pages, and that's my failing. The only thing I can give you at this point is my word.
Thanks!

Colors are spot on, beautiful style, and while I'd say some of it was a bit hokey... I think an older style of comic is exactly what you're going for, and you're pulling it off splendidly. Grats :)
.
But downside is, I'm not sure how this could hold up for 60 pages. It feels like we've pretty much seen the comic in the first 8... and there's only so far gratuitous explosions, chainsaws and T&A can go (though it is nice to look at ;)

I think more than anything else, I love the "feel" you establish in the first couple pages. I just bleeds this great exploitation tone that is a lot of fun, and usually does really well in the competition. The art is strong, and the texture you use on the pages really ups the ante for the whole project. The lettering and graphic design work works with you to establish exactly what you want it to. I think the biggest problem is that the pace of the story is elevated to match the zuda submission size. The exploitation movies this honors usually slow build to something, they revel in their mood, whereas this jumps us roughly into fight scenes at an elevated rate, so they seem rather gratuitous, and not the good kind of gratuitous. It's still a strong entry, and while I'd suggest working on your story in the future, you're already doing pretty well
