“Marked” is the story of Evan Dark, a man who loves his job. You see, thanks to the tattoos on his hands, he is able to destroy demons, trolls and various horrendous creatures of the netherworld, armed only with his fists. He’s one of the few “Marked men”; men who protect the world from the demon population which is trying to take over our realm. He received these tattoos by mistake (when the person, who had trained all of his life to be the next receiver was, apparently, ”less than prepared” for the task). With this, he landed a job working for “Blake, Stanton, and Bob”, the company that takes care of the human interests in the war between humans and demons. A war that, regular people (like you and I), are completely unaware of. It’s a great job, but there is one catch. You see, the problem in Evan’s life now is that there seems to be a demon rising (according to the sacred scriptures), so demons are appearing more frequently in our earthly plain. This means that working hours are getting more and more insane. Evan is trying to balance it all, while in a relationship the lovely Melissa Carlile, who thinks he’s just a regular accountant. So join Evan, as he punches his way through rooms full of creatures of the night, and tries to make it back home in time, for dinner with the love of his life.

@Nmt22:Thanks man, I hope to be back soon (fingers and toes crossed)
@Uru_Bing:Thank you so much :D
... And thanks to eeeeeeeveryone who checked out my little story, reviewed it, loved it, hated it, voted, or glanced at it. This was sooooo much fun, and getting all that feedback really made for a great month.
It's was fun to do, but even better to see some folks actually dug it... makes me wanna keep going :)
Thanks you guys!
Great job, Nandop, I was between Goldilock and Marked as well. Great character, great writing, great direction. Can't wait to see more of your work.
i deff likey :) tuff month tho!

5/5 starred you and +'ed you to my fav's :) good luckkkkk
@Causley: Thank you sir! I love that word...engaging. And I'll be back, don't worry about that, just keep an eye out ;)
Great entry man. Really enjoyed this. Your comedy and storytelling are great as well as your engaging art. Looking forward to what you do next from here. -- Sean
@TheFarlander: Thanks man! yeah I know, kind of a crappy month to be in this competition, but it's cool. I'm already planning a new submission to try again.
Gotta work on my internet savvy though...
I would like to see this higher on the charts, but you picked a pretty tough month to compete. Really funny at times, and it reads beautifully. I hope to see more of your stuff down the line. Maybe next time offer to give away art or video games for votes! Seems to be the way to go...
@zerocalcare: Thanks man! we are doing what we can :)
fun story and nice art,character design is cool too. good luck!
@Bryy: Thanks for featuring my little guys man! that's awesome :D

Zuda September 2009 crossover comic.
@famished: Thanks man! Though I dunno if anybody could go wrong with a panel like that ;)
Nandop, true. I definitely give you credit for page 4 panel 1 :)
@Rbr: Thanks man! I'll keep going no matter what so don't worry about that ;) and both Urbis faerie and Absolute magnitude rock, btw.
Neat little entry with some solid writing and art. If you don't take the top spot with MARKED, I hope you'll try again -- you're a talented cartoonist and I'm sure you'll go far!
@mrdynamite & Peruzzo: Thanks for your support guys! It's the chance you take by putting your work on a public forum for people to see. It's cool though, it's posts like yours that make this whole thing worthwhile. Thank you so so much for that :)
@famished: Well, at least it's free, right?. Thanks for reading :)
i like the way you draw hands. I especially like the last panel on page five, that's a specific compliment.
Good stuff this should be higher in the chart. I'm backing all the writer/artists i don't care much for the teams of professionals.
Plus frequentcontributor added uneccessary insults to his "review" and is just plain mean, you handled his bull**** very well. Excellent work
frequentcontributor doesn't know what he is talking about. the art is VERY solid. great storytelling, and a real strong sense of characterization/cartooning. Good job! I get real tired of people feeling it's their duty to give a crit- to things they don't care for. especially when the criticisms are nit-picky at best. ignore his posts, everyone.
Kinda Jay & Silent Bob meets Shaun of the Dead but without the sidekicks and not as funny.
@frequentcontributor: thanks for reviewing, man
I forgot to mention anything about the art, which isn't saying much for it. It is not bad, in any way, but nearly entirely forgettable. It's odd that almost nothing about this comic rises above average, for me. I wish that I hated it, even, but alas...
Not bad, but doesn't really shine in any way, either. Thought that the humor fell flat in every scene, and missed a lot of opportunities (Why didn't the old guy mark the young guy's dick? Or why not have him still peeing on the monster's foot as he is roaring at him?). Also, COULD have been a lot cooler with a serious/horror tone; not totally original, but the old guy passing to mark to a totally unsuspecting person might have been a pretty interesting angle. Also, no women in the whole 8 pages. At least give us a couple panels of his fiancee, unless he is marrying a man, as your spelling (one "e") would indicate... Also, how did this Clerks reject get a girlfriend? He's a slacker AND has to kill demons all the time? Talk about a catch! Anyway...
@RKB: Thank you so much for that review! I'm really glad you dig the non-linear storytelling (there's more to come, so don't worry about that). It really makes my day reading stuff like that, thank you so much :)

@Grobert79:Thank you! I'll do my best, good sir :)
@gnar ducce:Thank you for taking the time to review it man. And everyone that praises my dialogue is cool in my book ;)
@zero Warrior: See! that's what I've been telling people. People in the lower 5 spots do it right! Thank you so much
aww shucks, I neglected this one for judging it by its current rank.... lesson learned, this is Awesome! Quite possibly the best dialogue of the copetitive bunch and its a Fun fun comic!!
Good characters/hero. Liked the realistic dialogue w/his honey, makes the surreal elements more believable, his conversation w/his buddy, all makes for a guy you can root for. Great demons, sufficiently malevolent, great art job on them. Good Luck!
Very fun read. Keep up the great work! :)
@Rider one:Thank you sir!
@Fallendream: Thannks man! that's awesome of you to say.
@Shane:Thank you man. Oh,and there's drama, stay tuned :)
@bishop: Awesome! thank you!
@Pac:Weeena loco, se agradece :D
wena campeon, desde chilito te votamos eh, asi que todos los weas a votar no ma!!!
Fave!
Funny (which equals a connection on a human/emotional level, something a lot of submissions lack)! Cool action. Inject a little more 'drama' into your art, and you've got a winner.
I have to say this is the most "expressive" comic so far in my opinion. Every panel takes the risk of telling the story even if it means the result might be less pretty... personally I am striving to do that as an artist. In a comic, your ability to tell a story isn't limited to just the script and you have done a wonderful job making it fun to follow along with. Win or lose I'll be interested to see what you come up with next.
hi there, you got a nice story man, and it's fun to read, love your work, good luck.
@Elinavarro: Thank you sir. Se agradece mucho el comentario :)
Hi, great job. I really like this kind of comics. You are in the road. Buena suerte
@kingofsnake: thanks for taking the time to review it. Again, constructive and respectful criticism is always welcome.
@BlueMax:Thanks man! hopefully it'll get to go places ;)
Pretty cool. It can go places. Different types of demons to other "marked" people, and, of course, the history of The Marked. Looks very fun.
I like the art on this one quite a bit. But the writing needs some work. There's a lot of repetition and the story structure breaks down quite a bit. You basically have two beginnings within short sequence of one another. You should've either followed through with the scene from pages 1-2 or you should've started with page 3. You only really give us any information about one character, your main character. And because he repeats himself so much the only real sense we get about him is that he's somewhat self-absorbed, and doesn't have a huge vocabulary, which would be fine if you'd also introduced something endearing about him. He'd be eccentric. But you really haven't presented him in a way that would make me want to be his friend, and in a story like this, that's actually pretty important
@Willy166: Senk yu!!
Voted!
@Elfkin: My pleasure :)
Thanks so much for that fun ride! I loved this!
@Neil:Thank you very much, kind sir ;)
@comicreader:Thank you man! Fun is all I want it to be. there's way too many dark books out there already.
@michaeljasper:Thank you sir! Action and attitude are where it's at, if you ask me.
@BryyMiller:Thank you for taking the time to review it. It kinda made my day, to be honest with you. I'll work on my synopsis skills for my next entry :)

I'm such a sucker for stories like this, and you didn't disappoint! This moved fast, great action, humor, and attitude. I liked the art, quite a bit. Hope to read more!
very good. lot's of fun. right off the bat you got my vote.
VOTED
@Bagelman: I'm trying my hardest :)
@Quasilucid: Coming from you sir, that is AWESOME. You rule.
@James Clayton: Thank you man! I've always been fond of the loveable-loser-with-powers dinamic.
@KNuttal: Thanks man! and the constructive criticism is always welcome... not too much of that on the net ;)
The art style is fun, the visual storytelling is good, the whole "slacker" turned hero thing is always fun if handled well. You made the humor work which doesn't always happen when someone tries to do a funny comic. The lettering is adequate... better than most Zuda entires... but could be better. (Sorry, I'm a letterer so it's one of the things that jumps out at me.)
YOU GOT MY VOTE THIS MONTH!
