One day, while in the spare room, Paola and her cat Machiavello, open an old tin can and find a piece of God that has been forgotten there a long time ago. Taking it unto themselves, they find that they are imbued with the essence and power of creation. Which is great fun, when you are a six-year-old girl with a great imagination and the company of her best friend and fellow bath-hater. From their fertile minds, beings mythical and marvelous, monstrous and beautiful are given life. Worlds and lives and entire histories are created in the blink of an eye. The laws and rules of the universe are twisted and pushed to the breaking point. It’s all like a game and it all seems too wonderful to be true.
It is. Nothing in life is free. And Paola and Machiavello learn this the hard way, when they receive a surprise visit from one of the premiere powers of the universe: Evil herself, the Devil. She wants the piece of God and the Creation Spark it contains. Assuming they survive the Devil (who is obviously not above the dirtiest, meanest tricks to get what she wants), there are still other interested. Amongst them: Death, The Anti-Creation and Ancient Black Cat Gods. And that’s just for starters. The little girl and her cat are going to need all the wit, strength and cleverness they can muster just to get through the day.
They will learn that games can be fun - they can also be very, very deadly.

Thanks for the kind words, I'll do my best to find a nice home for this story. Glad you liked it!
wow this was really good; man the ones i like never seem to win. this would def be a comic i'd like to follow.
I guess I need to know how to play the game better. It was a little naive to just think quality would be enough to win, I know better for next time. And you can check out the interview here: http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/31632 it's the second episode 21. My first live interview which didn't go to bad at all. Thanks for the kind words
An interview?? Where's that posted?
I will definitely keep following your work wherever I can find it Erik; you really deserved the win this month, but democracy is a bitch sometimes. :(
I don't know how much a country mile is, but as far as quality goes, I'm still convinced this book was one of the few best this month, sadly that is not enough to win, but your words and those of everyone who read it are a great source of encouragement. Thank you.
I am gutted this didn't win. It was the best by a country mile.
Thanks for taking the time to write this. And don't worry about it there'll be other opportunities and other paths. I got great reviews and a lot of people to look at my work as well as a killer interview as well as you guys who'll be the first to know whenever I put something new out there! Thanks for the support!
Well Kid,You gave it your "ALL" and thats all that matters,by the way thanks for the nice plug for The Villains Corner Podcast! I still think your the best! Good luck in all that you do buddy and if I can EVER help you along the way you know where to find me.Hope you dont mind if I drop a Tear in mu Beer over your loss though!
Jeff Albertson: I'm glad you found it thought provoking, and I hope to continue this story as well.
Kwip: I've had that problem with the art, it has certain connotations and people tend to assume the subject matter goes in hand with that, so I'm glad you gave it a chance and found it to have depth.
Furman: Thanks, "original" isn't an easy description to come by now a days.
Wow. This looks really good. Quite imaginative and thought-provoking. I'd love to see it continue. Good luck!
Wow, this was very beautiful and a great story. The art is a little misleading - I went in expecting more of a children's story, but was pleasantly surprised to find such a deep and interesting tale. Great job!
Very original. Congrats.
Glad that you found value and art in it, even if it isn't exactly to your tastes. And thanks for saying so. It does mean a lot to me.
Great idea, great art, and even though I prefer to read another style of comics, this one definitely is worth more than 6th rank!
Thanks, so glad you like it. I'm doing my best to win and if not, I'll find a way to get the story out and I'll make sure to let you know.
The art is awsome and i'm really curious about what happens next so i hope you win :)
I'm glad you found it to your liking, It's good to find people who respond to this kind of stories and art. If there has been something absolutely fantastic about this, it has been getting such great responses from people.
This is really good. The art is top-notch and the script is smart and hilarious! It seems like a kiddie style comic at first but actually has this great light-hearted dark quality to it. It's also a pretty rad take on the whole idea of creation and (possibly if the story continues) religion. It's a crime that this is not higher on the list.
RKB: Loved the review, it feels like you really read, and delved into the story. You caught some of the points that I'll be playing with later, and it's good to know they are there to be found. Thanks!

Mromer: Thanks for the cool appreciation. I know it's not your standard comic, but I think it has a lot to offer. I hope it will be remembered, and those who do will be rewarded with the rest of the story whenever it comes out. It's been amazing to get such great feedback, it really helps me believe this story has a home somewhere.
Theautumnstar: Thank you, and I'd love nothing more than to show you all the crazy, sweet, weird ideas I have in store for this story. I'll find a way!
adis78: Thanks for the vote, and it's good to know there is a public for this kind of story, it's great news to me!
wyrframe: Neither do I, and if not here I'll find some other home for this book. And the great response from those who have read this small, 8 page installment is something I will treasure.
This one surely deserved a higher rank. Guess people are not really ready for this, too bad. Rest asured your comic will be remembered further more than many winners here. ;)

Gorgeous and fun! More, please!
Right up my alley. This comic deserves to get the room to grow, bloom and expand. It has my vote.
I /really/ don't want this to be yet another of Zuda's hundreds of 8-page "that's all, folks" specials.
Melonie: Thanks for your kind words. I agree on the attention thing, and I have many ideas, let's hope all as original as the art style. Some however, are not quite as cute.
It's a shame this didn't get more attention, because it was a very cute and original story and art style. Please do submit more comics in the future!
iggynore: Good to know you enjoyed it. I think kid's might like it as well, either that or it'll give them nightmares.
Gotta say, this is simply superb!! Hope you keep on doing this kind of work, I'm sure kids love it! (and me too XD)
Remilio: Thanks for reading it even though the style didn't appeal to you, and I'm glad it proved worth it enough to get your vote.
DadaHyena: It's ok to be picky, I do believe I need to be a bit more adventurous with the inking, but I'm glad the story works for you.
This is really cool. I didn't like the style of it at first, but it grew on me, and I like the plot. You've got my vote.
VERY nicely done. Wonderfully whimsical and imaginative. The only thing that doesn't quite click with me is the linework. The sharp thin lines don't really match the characters and their personas. I would have loved to have seen this inked with a brush, but that's just me being picky. Good job!
Jesterb769: I've been getting that a lot. The initial art seems off-putting, but so far everyone whose given the story a chance has loved it, I'm glad you did too.
Tomstan: It's great that the story holds up after several reads, must mean I'm doing something right!
I did not expect to vote for this, based on the little thumbnail image (it just isn't my style of animation, generally)... but then I read it. And wow, am I glad I did. This is a stunning entry, both in the whimsicle, beautifully colored art, and its contrast with a rather dark-humored story. Love it. You got my vote, best luck!
I have read this several times...WOW!!! This is just beautiful!! I am always amazed at some of the truly great talent and imagination that the Zuda competition has brought out.I love the b/w and color bursts,"although I am biased on that". When the parents are turned into butterflies and the cat gets them.....Brilliant.
I love this.
Bloodyseph: I totally agree, I'm doing my best to get the word out- if more people see it, I'm confident they'll vote!
mapachito: Glad you enjoyed it. And I hope the same thing.
iergoth: Thanks for the vote, let's hope more people think like you.
poket: Thanks for the comments, it's good to have fans!
still one of my favs... i cant believe your still at a low rank. you should be higher... like number one!
AMAZING! I love the characters,story & use of color...I hope u win!
Your entry is the best this month, my vote is yours. Good Luck!!!
This is fantastic artwork! I just LOVE the creativity of the story and the drawings are amazing, I'm a big fan!!!
Some Fan Art for you and the other competitors http://zudafanart.blogspot.com/
Mpd57:Good review. I hope I win this competition so I can show you all the ideas I have planned. I don't think it would disappoint you at all.
Hansie: Glad you enjoyed so many aspects of the story. And I hope more people read it as well, I'm doing my best to get the word out!
A short review is now live: http://tinyurl.com/nukr5w
Very nice work! I love the art style (particularly the impactful use of colour) & the writing is bloody funny! I really like the panel of the cat leaping for the butterflies... Just such a cute & happy image! Makes me smile... There's some good stuff in this month's competition, but this gets my vote. I hope more people discover Children's Games before voting closes! Good luck!
whoops, sorry about that last comment, I forgot a friend was actually logged in when I wrote.
Dado: Thanks, it's strange and quite tough actually, to do things from the perspective of a six year old girl and a cat, and it's good to know it's working out right.
Monstar555: I think it's pretty good too, and yeah, if it doesn't stay here, I'll find someplace else to keep on telling the story.
Love it! Machiavello is the best... he's got a personality of its own, the little bugger!
This is really great great stuff.... no way does it deserve to be 5th place.
Hopefully you'll continue this elsewhere if you have to!
