If Superheroes think it’s hard trying to hide their secret identities from the public, just imagine what 78-year-old Faye Justis goes through trying to explain all of her bruises and tattered clothing to her family. When old age forced Faye to hang up her revealing spandex super heroine costume, she assumed that some younger; more in-shape do-gooder would take over as the protector of the city. So far, no one new has risen to the challenge, so Faye still finds herself regularly battling the forces of evil (though her scantily costume remains in a box in her closet).
Our story revolves around Faye as she tries to fit in with her elderly friends and be a part of her son and grandson’s lives, though a slew of various villains constantly make it difficult for her to simply live a quiet life. Our story revolves around a string of kidnappings, which have been occurring throughout the city Faye inhabits and sometimes begrudgingly protects. The kidnappings had been flying well below Faye’s radar, what with bigger crises like massive, murderous robots and horrifying mutant creatures keeping her busy.
However, when her grandson Ronnie is taken captive, Faye is on the case. Not to be confused with the most patient individual on the planet, Faye fumbles her way through the investigative process, attempting to locate her missing loved one, all the while keeping up an ignorant façade to fool her son and his wife into thinking that she knows nothing about the case.

The b/w makes it dynamic and the concept I like this and win lose or whatever I want to see more of this. Ive read alot of great comic that hvent won and stopped at that point I really would like to see more of this.
Thanks for all the support! We look forward to continuing Granny hopefully along with some other projects in the near future.
loved it granny kicks @$$$$$
Cant wait to see more.
Great Idea...Very creative...The art work and story line is genius.
Hey men! I liked a lot the art. The explosion in page 4 is fantastic! Keep on it!
Cool Beans
(rh-x)- For future plans, at this time we are uncertain on who/what company may publish us, but we are going to continue our story in a mini series fashion with plans to move forward from there. Again, thanks to all for the kind words.
Actually... Although the concept SEEMS cheesy, upon reading the strip, it's really not. You've done well in putting the "twist" on a tried and true theme, and actually executed it very well. The art is excellent, as well.
good luck guys.
I really like both story and art, though the concept reminds me a bit of an old british tv-show called "Supergran"...in a different way. Plans for the future?
The art is amazing and I love the concept, but the dialog doesn't really do it for me.
i agree powflip should be higher, in case anybody on here is interested here's an interview with with the writer of the stuff of legend, which is penciled by the inker of Vigilante grandma,Charles Paul Wilson III some really great artwork is displayed

I wish the b+w strips received more page views on here, they are just as worthy as the color ones...
this is a pretty new direction for heros I like it though looking forward to more
Great job, want to see more!
GREAAAATT JOOOOBBBB..... I loved! good luck!
Not really my thing, but the black and white work is truly inspiring. I am jealous.
nice work guys, good to see VG again.
Look, the idea here is totally lame (I'm assuming that's the point). But the execution is so well done that you manage to make it interesting. You're pushing tongue in cheek to the extreme.
I really don't see why this comic isn't further up the ranks.
Yeah, I also definitely have to thank everyone again for the comments, suggestions and kind words. Best of luck to all the other competitors as well.
thanks for the compliments and thoughts, everyone!
and thanks, clever android, for checking out the stuff of legend book! and bloody pulp is quite cool. best of luck to your friend!
cpwilson i read about your new book the stuff of legend, amazing art, design, and idea from what i seen on the net, i was feeling "VG" before i new you were on the team, if my friend jeff wasnt in the competion "bloody pulp" i would have definately voted for this entry, it definitly deserve a much higher ranking ,good luck.
gotta love the eight screen!!!!!! nice job!!!
Fantastic art - very clean and expressive. Nice job.
Thanks, Brock!
Brock Heasley, creator of Superfogeys, ladies and gentlemen!
Superfogeys is a hilarious webcomic about a group of old super heroes and villians hanging out in a retirement home: http://www.th3rdworld.com/web-comic/The-SuperFogeys
Charles, your work blows me away as always. I knew you were a master with the pencil from Stuff of Legend..but these inks? Wow.
Page 4 is a killer splash.
Some Fan Art for you and the other competitors http://zudafanart.blogspot.com/
I heard about this comic at CWR--I enjoy what you guys have so far! It's a really fun concept and I love the contrast of black and white. I just had to log in to vote. Good luck!
Great work, really like this story.
great work CPwilson, wishing the content was a tad more interesting. i could have seen this working really well with some story arch following off what page1 set up ... with the other heroes and stuff, a la Watchmen.

Man, that initial thumbnail really tricks a guy, because it doesn´t let see the great artwork you got there. The use of the light, the balance between the B&W areas, and the characters per se, are really great. I got no advice to give cause it's just plain cool. Good luck with it, i hope to read more in the near future...
This came out really great!! Good Luck!!
awsome work! love it!
The idea is really cool and funny
Good luck
Well, for next time the good thing about color is that if the colors take something away then we go back to b&w.
Good luck Don! I can't wait to colour the future stories!
Absolutely wonderful!!!
I second that this works much better WITHOUT color. The contrasts on the splash page and the faraway shot of the robot exploding are perfect. The use of little details and bold silhouettes really stand out from most comics that are over-drawn.
Congrats!
Marvelous art, perfect ink. I'd like read more.
Whether it's 10th or 1st we are currently working on and planning to continue this book. Next story it's safe to say it will be coloured and you will see much more "Vigilante" in the Granny. Thanks Again Everyone!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE BLACK & WHITE FOR THIS!!!!!
I'd like to see more of the "vigilante" in the granny... like, are the knitting needles just a front (like Clark Kent's specs)? Loved the artwork & exploding robot! Great start!
Go Granny Go!!!! This comic is awesome!
I don't actually think colour would suit this strip. I like the starkness and considering it's a comic someone from the 'grey' demographic of society, monotone makes sense and is appropriate I'd reckon. As others have said, it shows that the inks really stand up.
Thanks for the kind words and critiques, everyone. My name's not on these 8 pages, but I've got a long history with Don and Vigilante Granny, and if we get the opportunity to do more stories with her I'll be taking over the writing duties.
draw more!
