CAN YOU DRAW THIS BETTER THAN I DID?

The answer is probably yes. I'm clearly not a professional artist.

But if you can do this better than I did, maybe we can win the Zuda contest together! Check out these 8 pages and let me know what you think.

If you're an artist and would like to work with me, send me an email at nucleotidecomic@gmail.com.

The art is sexy...its got a sensuality to it I cannot explain. It's a cliffhanger of a story...hopefully it won't just be your typical revenge tale. The wording is a little rough at times (gun shooter? = assassin, hit-man, sniper, or just shooter), but it does not effect the story. GREAT!!

*CyberLord: Thanks for the tip Lord! I'll keep that in mind!
*kingofsnake: yeah, well actually one of the things i wanted to do in this comic, was to "test" this "weird" style of art and color, and play a bit with. I'm not the kind of guy that usually likes to use too much color in my pages, so I went to the extreme opposite in this and try something pretty "radical". Some liked it, others didn't, that's how it is :)

Trying to get all my critiques in before the end of the month, and not crap out halfway through like last month...
The inking here is very good, it makes the pencils look better than they would otherwise. There are just a few anatomy issues here and there, especially on the ladies, that make them look almost cartoonishly sexual. But, like I said, the fantastic inking really saves it. The coloring is weird, but not weird in a bad way. It really rides that line that supertron rides between off-putting and awesome. Although, I'd still rank supertron higher on the awesome scale. The story is a bit strange, but there's nothing wrong with that either. The fault in the story telling is not it's strangeness, but it's over reliance on narrative boxes. It feels less like you're telling me a story here and more like you're pitching me a story. If you narrowed your focus instead of laying out your entire backstory, this would be a far better eight pages.

Really nice! Loved the opening panel where we see the action through Clandestino's eyes. Very nice pacing to bring us to page eight which tied in as a the title page. Good luck with this.
One last note: The Rom don't like the term "gypsy". It has some negative connotations. In particular it's where we get the word "gyp".

I gave it a 4. The writing was a little heavy-handed, but the concept's cool, the art is gorgeous and it's hard to convey a lot of story in 8 half-comic pages. So good work.

Great art. The premise was a bit too loose for me. It kind of came off as Afro Samurai in reverse with the main bad guys look and that he used a sword rather than guns, and the "hero" was an excellent gunsman rather than swordsman.

Killer art, love the color palette as well as the drawing. The story is great too, like Tarantino meets the Gyspsies. I haven't read all the other submissions yet, but this one is getting my vote as of right now.

Ok, you got my vote. Seriously, I read everything through previously, then a bunch of it again, and then tonight I have gone over each entry and re-read the ones that absolutely stood out to me as the best. After doing so, from a field of Freak City, Sides, and Clandestino(all of them great art, ideas and execution), Clandestino gets it for originality of subject, tone, and story(The others had those also, but in comparing it back to other winners and entries in the past, this one stands out just a bit farther). I can't begin to express just how close this was, and how tough this was for me to choose. I think ultimately, it was the grindhouse feel and that great big mix of genres, that lead me to go with this.
Good luck in this contest, You've really done an outstanding job with this, and I look forward to reading more of it.

This is my number 3 and it's a strong number 3. What I mean is: you have good art and there is a story, but the connection between narration of art and dialogs/text seems somewhat loose... And I don't mean spacey; rather like corset that's not been tied properly. Maybe you tried to squeeze too much information in those 8 pages... on the other hand you managed to make those 8 pages a nice introduction that works like a movie trailer and THAT is something I value quite much (a lot of the previews here seem randomly cut).
To be honest that's just me being picky, because I had to choose from 3 ;P

Very cool - the last page stands out in particular and I like the vibe and energy. The only problem I have is that the white backdrop in some bits makes the thing look like something's missing but maybe that's just me. As I said, a very cool and captivating strip - good luck!

This comic is pretty interesting, but I'm not sure if it's strong enough of a story to make me keep reading it. I like the main villain well enough, but the two sub villains look like supervillain rejects. The dialogue seems innapropriate to the story at parts (like when his partner yells "yay"), but overall an interesting premise.
