The 4:3 aspect ratio is one of the entertainment industry's standard sizes, although it hasn't seen much use in comic books. However, it is a frequently used broadcast format. It is conveniently adaptable for print collections (of either horizontal format or vertical format printing) and, with a little adjusting, most cell phone and handheld devices.
