In the wake of Lucifer’s tragic death, Azz simultaneously assumes the role of High Lord of Hell and launches an intense investigation into his predecessor’s assassination. The extreme political pressures of ruling Hell are far more complicated and consuming than Azz could have ever imagined. His investigation goes no easier. From ex-wives to ex-lovers to political rivals, Lucifer had a legion of enemies who could all benefit from his death.
The strain of all his responsibility weighs heavily on Azz. He starts to see Lucifer everywhere. At first he only catches brief fleeting glimpses of the former Lord of Hell from a distance and is able to dismiss them as his mind playing tricks on him. But as the sightings grow more frequent, Azz begins to question whether Lucifer is really dead or not.
Overwhelmed, Azz is barely able to keep it together when a pair of angels arrive, sent down from Heaven to conduct their own investigation into Lucifer’s murder. Azz is furious with their interference but they carry with them the authority of God and he is powerless to stop them. The angels’ investigation turns up new evidence, all of it pointing toward Azz as the murderer.
Believing that God is ultimately behind this attempt to frame him, Azz is running a desperate race against time to unearth the truth before the noose cinches around his own neck.

I really dig this story!
This lost to a big, pink, cigarette smokin' rabitt?! Really?! Nice work, hope you continue it elsewhere.
Again Zuda disappoints me... but that's the nature of competition I s'pose. This is a fantastic story that put up a heroic single-creator battle against the awesome foursome's professionally marketed Hammer story. Like so many people on here have commented, you're a winner in my book. Let me know where you're continuing Azz's tale and you can count me as a dribbling fan-boy.
Like DarenStrange said, and I don't mean to come off petty, but you were robbed. Better luck next time, though. And don't forget that Zuda has second-chance months. Keep that chin up, you technically won considering your email list isn't as wide as...others. :P Again, that is not me being petty. LOL.
Hey Thane,
You really had us sweating bullets all month long, but especially at the end there. It was a hell of a race. Azz's Inferno is damn fine comics and I'm glad to hear you plan on continuing. If your next shot at Zuda is as good as this one I do believe you'll get the gold. Thanks for making this competition just about as exciting as my battered heart could take. :)
Congrats still, Thane, since clearly you racked up a LOT of awareness/fans. also, pj and I really liked the shout out to your wife :o) ...you've got a great team there, and things are on the up and up so keep it up!!
Thane: You scared me like an arch nemesis ALL month long. Now I hope we can be friends. You've got an awesome comic and you know you've got my support for anything else you do!
-Gabe
Really liked your comic, thane. as soon as we got into first i thought you would win and any other month I would have voted for you. hope you give zuda another try!
Man it was close, but you did really good. You should have no problem finding a home for Azz. Also, can't wait to see what else you've got up your sleeve!
Again, I want thank everybody for the support I've received throughout this competition. This has been a hell of a ride and what a dramatic ending! At least I can say I went down in blaze of glory.
--
I'm going to do everything in my power to find a new venue for Azz and I will be letting everyone know where that is, as soon as I can.
--
I also want to let everyone know that I'll be back. I have lots of other projects in the works and, providing Zuda will have me, You'll be seeing me again soon.
--
Again, gracious thanks to everyone. Lots and Lots of people went above and beyond the call of duty to fight for this comic into the final minutes and I want all of you to know it's meant the world to me.
--
But the last word of course has to go to my wife, Erin. She's been with me on this roller coaster ride the whole time, celebrating the highs and sharing in the lows. I don't even have the words to express what she means to me... but I know she knows...
Hey, Thane. No offense to the guys who won (because I know they must've worked really hard!!), but this is far superior to "The Hammer" in my book. I can't believe you got the title snagged from you right at the end. But, that aside, I really hope you continue this! And if you do, please let me know where/when! Would love to continue reading your work. It's brilliant.
hey man i really thought you had first for a while there... but either way you had my vote... great f'n comic i live it...
Congratulations on both a tough fight and a FANTASTIC opening story...I'm hoping for a continuation as well!
Wow. What a drag out!
..
Congratulations on the strong fight, Thane! I'm a big fan of this comic, so make sure you hang around Zuda and let us all know where you're going to be finishing the story. At least, I HOPE you're going to finish it. And then come back with something else! You got serious storytelling skills.
Thane,
Let us know when they release the final result. Hang in there in the meantime. You're a clear winner in my book and its remarkable to see you share your talent.
Well, they've closed the polls and its officially too close to call. wow.

This has been a phenomonal experiance.

I want thank eveyone for their support. I want thank all the family and friends that turned out to support me-- It means a lot to me, it really does. And a special thank you to all the people who don't know me personally but still turned out to support this comic because they saw something in it that they liked enough to want to see more.
--
But, most of all, I want to thank my wife, Erin, whose love and support and enthusiasm for me and my hopes and dreams makes me fall in love with her all over again. You've been incredible and I thank God for you.
Chilling! Good luck :)
almaryhc -- Thanks for the support and the kind words. We'll find out soon enough...
I did try harder!!!! and I think since you have over 40more favorite votes, you are clearly the favorite of the ppl. I don't know how the other comic got itself viewed so often, but yours is top notch...maybe something will change in the next 2min....THAT wld be awesome. If not, you are a winner and will be recognized big time soon. :o) best.

GREAT use of the form, I love the strip-style, and its dramatic when you break from it. Great overall look, really consistent without being boring. Hope you win... I wanna see more!

Very best of luck Thane I know it'll be a fun strip if you win.
SamLittle-- No worries. I'm so tired I can barely understand these posts anyway...
I've gotta tell you, Thane - I love the character designs here.
Hey Thane,
I'm kinda thinking these guys are kids from our boy Gabe's art class in Hong Kong . They're just kids and they don't really mean any harm. I do apologize for the invasion of your talkback though.
Good luck in the final stretch, man. Don't know about you, but I'm exhausted. :)
SO SAD MY TEACHER TOLD ME TO VOTE FOR IT IF I DIDNT VOTE I GET DENTITON THEY ARE CHEATER I THINK THE SECOND ONE IS BETTER
The second one is better, though
You told all of us to vote for it!!! Cheater!!!
I love the story; can't wait to see what happens next. I enjoy the different uses of the panels. I think it is great that Azz won't drop the fish he caught for anything. If nothing else, he's a committed fisherman....
LAST MINUTE PUBLICITY STUNT:

Go Join! Pester everyone you know to join! Azz would want that.
The story and the art come together well. I enjoy the expressions you capture on Azz's face. You have my vote...hoping to hear more!
I'm not a big fan of this kind of art but I did like the story and how it was told. I also like the comical characters.
NICE :)
Hi, Everyone. Thanks for the complements and the critical feedback. It's nice to get both. Only two days left... Why, oh why does February have to be so long...
This comic is wonderful! Contrary to other comments, I think this is an excellent twist on an ancient story line. I felt that the dialog and character expressions meshed very well and enjoyed the background on the internal relationships. Kudos to this artist/writer!
I like it! You've got my vote. Go Azz!
