The Hammer
The Hammer is © Sam Little
Calvin School got out of Hamtown by the skin of his teeth. Left nothing but broken bones and blood and bad memories behind. But now, the brutal assaults on his sister-in-law and disappearance of his nephew have dragged him back into the old life. The hard life. On the trail of his brother Alvin, and Bones Charlie, the dead-eyed boss of eastside, School is looking for answers. He's looking for payback. And heaven help any poor sucker that gets in his way. Tonight, the Hammer falls on old Detroit. And the streets are gonna run red.

The currently-competing comic Sci-fi Drive-by has some bold predictions about the near-future. Including, if you zoom in on the book cart behind the alien in the library scene, a print version of The Hammer!

What a great voice! Sin City meets the weird bunny from "Donnie Darko," but with more violence and weirdness. Best part was when his brother turned into a big blue bunny. Crazy good.
sorry to hear that... SOB**
Good luck with your new adventures! looking forward to it...
Thanks, Chinadoll! Looking forward to the big kick off for Absolute Magnitude. Unfortunately, it looks like The Hammer won't be seeing a second season any time soon. Just not enough views for the big pink bunny. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted. In any event, me and the boys have got something new cooking that we'll hopefully be able to share with everybody sooner rather than later. Stay tuned!
The Hammer rocks! Can't wait until S2... I would totally wear the Hammer t-shirt... pink bunny, white gloves and a bloody hammer.
Howdydoo, Hammerheads! Hungry for more Hammer?
Check out the Hammerblog for a prequel peek into Calvin's pink past.

We'll be updating a new page of LI'L CALVIN SCHOOL every darn day on the blog for the next few weeks. Every WEEKday that is. So head on over and getcher pink on!
Hey Gnar Duce! Thanks for reading and dropping a comment! Mucho appreciado.
Sorry bout the doublepost...See ya in Season 2.
Great Palette choices! Professional stuff, all the way, great looknfeel, fit perfect. Lotsa Action! Great fight sequences, (& violence, in general). This team should definitely collaborate again!
And there you have it, Hammerheads. The end of the bunny trail. At least for now. Overflowing buckets of thanks to everybody for all your comments and encouragement along the way. Goddamn but we had us some fun.

From the get-go, it was very important to us to tell a complete tale in these 60 screens, but rest assured, the story does not end here. Every action has its consequence and the big pink bunny is gonna learn it ain't so easy to go gentle into that good night. We've got season two all planned out, so cross your clickin' fingers and wag them at the powers that be if you're up for another descent into the rabbit hole.
*****
Okeydokes, on to your sweet sweet comments!
squizzot: Thanks for following along on the hammerblog, chum. Our scattered trail of breadcrumbs there was always pointing to the central mystery of Calvin School.
*****
NeutronCrush: Thanks for all your undying support along the way, man. Got them fingers crossed?
*****
mdp57: Have I mentioned that I'm a big ol' fan of the exaggeration?
*****
James Clayton: I'd recommend a viewing of the epic "Angels in America." Unfortunately, Alvin went out more like Mr. Creosote.
*****
ptimony: A green twin....hmmmm. I might need to do a rewrite on season two...
*****
Foz: Thanks, dude. You know, every time I click into Deadly it just makes me want to sit down and draw all day long. Also, you really ought to invest in a chapeau of your very own.
*****
yiorgos k: We're all about the twists. Thanks for sticking with us!
*****
A.K.A Red Cheese: Thanks! I can't help but wonder what you're USUALLY known as....
oysterboy: And we're on the edge of our seats for more Lily of the Valley!
*****
talkinboutcomics: Thanks a lot! Glad twe hooked you in for the long run!

Scadilla: Love that avatar. We like to dance back and forth across the line between stupid and clever.
*****
Caanan: Thanks for riding! Celadore season three! Yay!
*****

*****
CausleyConcepts: Thanks for all your continued support, pal. Anthropomorphs rock!
*****
jesterb769: Thanks, man. I will totally cop to the ending being a bit rushed. We really could have used 5 or even 10 more pages. Rookie mistake. That's what happens when you hire a bunch of rank amateurs who are a bit too fond of the Old Speckled Hen. Next time we'll stick to my exquisitley detailed outline. Probably.
Escape: Yes.... it kind of is. What, did you want more? Please allow me to direct you to the feedback button!
*****
letteretcher: Betcha I cant say your name five times fast! Thanks!
*****
Haymaker: Thanks! We want to MAKE more!
*****
zsabreuser: A delightful fresh breath? You must be a fan of of the fine odor of beer, fur and cigarettes. And who isn't really? Thanks!
*****
vonblinden22: Thanksya! The Hammer's head expands and contracts whenever he takes one of those delightful fresh breaths. He's weird that way.
*****
Catty: Thanks so much for the high praise. You're not catty at all!
*****
Once again, can't thank everybody enough for reading and taking the time to type in your praise and criticism. We are humbled. It's been a grand old time.

Hammer out!
Wow. This was AMAZING. At first, I wasn't so sure about the idea of a Pink Bunny running around, kicking a** and taking names... But after a few updates, I fell in love. This was an amazing ride, congratulations to the artists. The art was perfect with the tone, the dialogue was wonderful - it told you everything you needed to know without wasting the time to spell it out to you. Something also echoed in the details - like Calvin's eyes going red on p.55 (which was just so perfect in the moment.) Just simply amazing.
Five Stars - Favorited - Feedbacked. :)
Hail to The Hammer! Thanks for giving us a great season guys. I look forward to the Big Pink Bunny Comeback in series 2 (with bonus eyepatch...).
I can't help but laugh when I look at Hammer... Especially in the last panel on Page 10. His head size is a hoot!
It's HAMMERTIME.
I hope I can continue seeing more pinkiness action in here. This comic is seriously a delightful fresh breath
Love page 59. I want more!
Bravo lads, I really enjoyed it, and you left me with a thirst that only a one-eyed giant pink rabbit can quench...I want a second season, and I'd like it pronto, pretty please with sassy hooker on top...
WOW! So sad! I cannot wait to see what happens next! Congrats on a great run Hammerboyz!
Its been a blast! Thanks for reading, and for all of the great comments folks! I salute you!
Wow.
Just getting back to business now after a couple of days spent drinking, talking and bus-riding with Steve here in base camp Philadelphia. From here we scaled the big city summit of NYC to have ourselves a nice little HAMMER wrap party with Sam, Kwanza, Dave, Peter and Bobby and Danna Timony.
Gabe, buddy, you were sorely missed by all.
Can't thank all you hammerheads enough for the continued support over these past few months and, personally, I'm really, really happy about what we've done here.
Four cartoonists meeting on Zuda and playing around in the same strip, each of us giving to and getting from the experience something quite different than we'd have done on our own. That's a winner for all of us.
Thanks everyone. Now, let's see what we come up with next...
-Rob
Glad you guys dug season 1. Thanks for all the support! I really appreciate it!
Congrats on the wrap up of season one guys!
Is it...over?
Congrats, guys!
A good ride, and a damned engaging read. Thank you! The whole bunny/not bunny homosexual symbolic duality reveal was a nice twist.
The end seemed like it was rushed tho, like you had to cram in the ending in a few pages because you were running into 60 soon. The pace of the last pages seemed very "off" from the rest of the narration -- the bro character's sudden appearance and exit, and the sudden toss in of the homosexual twist to the Charlie plot seemed... well, very sudden. In retrospect it gave context to the bunny suit, but the whole thing seemed sort of rushed.
That said, great comic, good work and I hope we see a second season :)
Congrats on an awesome season guys! Very well done. Hitting the feedback page...
Nice ending. Might have known a big gay pink bunny would shrug off a bullet through the head! Roll on with the lime green hamster ;-)
well done. i'll come back for more if hammer'll be rockin' the eye-patch.
Holy Busted Bunnies, Batman.
That was amazing. Consider the feedback button pressed.
Thanks for a wild ride, gents. I'd like to redeem my tickets for a second go-round. More. More!
I really enjoyed that, guys. I admittedly just skimmed through the first couple of pages thinking "A pink rabbit? this going to be stupid", but I actually started to read it at about p 5 and didn't stop til the end and came back and read the beginning. You guys all did a great job on this. I love everything about this from the writing to the colors, ace job!
If that kid wasn't screwed up before ...
YES! thanks hammerheads! keep sending that feedback and then we get Season DEUX! Night of the Zombie Calvin!
I dread to think what this comic would have looked like had there been a mature content filter in place!?!
glad you guys are enjoying it!
And just in case you don't know - the feedback button is a wittle bitty text at the foot of this page ;-) or just type in http://www.zudacomics.com/feedback
Thanks, Rob (talkingaboutcomics).
Yeah, I think we were kind of stretching on those first eight pages and seeing what kind of leg room there might be for each of under the same drawing table. We learned a lot about process through working together this way and it's been really something surprising since each of have such different approaches to our own comics.
Sam has a really fun script outlined for Season Two and Gabe has drawn some of the character designs. I've even promised to use a quill pen next time instead of a big fat kolinsky sable. Lord only knows what Steve's got up his sleeve.
Looking forward to a Season Two, Hammerheads, but we need your help. Hit that feedback button, tell your friends, hell, write your congressman. Tell them you had as much fun as we did and you want more of the same!
-Rob
Holy crud. I admit, in the contest I wasn't as keen on this as some of the others, but man this is exceptionally well done. The first 8 were very good, but the next 50 have just gotten better with each building page. The surprise is great and really well done. I have questions, but I will hold them for now and go give some feedback for a second season!
Really loving the surprises here at the end. How much more can be packed into the next two pages?? We're going to have to have a second season of this one.
Two screens left and the main character gets shot in the head!?!
Now what?
Time ti hit those feedback buttons, Hammerheads, or we may have to start thinking of a Calvin Zombie for season two.
Getting better all the time! Can'y wait to see where Calvin goes from here.
Well, nice array of twists there. I was relatively unconvinced about this series until you guys took a step towards Brilliant. I wonder where this could possibly go now, and that's a good thing.
Hooley Dooley! Only 3 pages left!? That makes me sad. I want MORE!!! Season 2! I demand it! (please) All you guys are doing great work, not only on the comic itself, but continued marketing and promotion. If I was wearing a hat, I'd take it off...maybe I'll go steal Gallahers' little black one, put it on, take it off to you guys, then put it back on his head before he notices...
I'm just glad it was the blue twin that got whacked.
.
.
.
Also glad there's no green twin.
This little bunny is boiling down to a belting climax...
I'd love to know which "gret men" said that. I'd also love to see the panel in which Alvin pops up and claims "It's just a flesh wound..."
I always figured Alvin just had a really weak chest cavity.
Well, we're all a little bit gay aren't we? Guys? Anyway, I'm kinda wondering about the gun, bullet, puncture wound, size, ratio thang. I thought Bones had a gun, not a Fortress-style disintegrator ray beam!?!?!
