Hitch is a smart-mouthed, egotistical 8-year-old kid, whose dad is a brilliant, but whacky, scientist who thinks Earth will soon be destroyed by a giant comet. Hitch's dad builds a rocket to send his beloved son safely to a distant planet, but the rocket ends up opening a dimensional rift in space and crashes Hitch on a planet inhabited by intelligent monkeys. Not only that, but the comet also ends up missing Earth. On this monkey-world, Hitch discovers that when he eats bananas, he gains amazing super powers, such as flight and super strength. As it turns out, the dimensional rift that his rocket created is also allowing monsters from other dimensions to the monkey-planet. Hitch strikes a deal with the monkey-government to fight the monsters while their scientists help find a way to get him back home. He takes on the super-hero name of Alpha Monkey but when not fighting monsters and crime, disguises himself as an ordinary monkey-kid (wearing a cheap plastic Halloween mask).
Needs to be a cartoon! Great work!

Thanks to everyone who voted for us. We're not sure what we'll do with Alpha Monkey at the moment. When Bobby and I first created him, our intentions were for Alpha Monkey to be animated. Maybe that is where his future lies.

Matteo, Oscar, and I are well into Hyperkinetic, a new comic coming from Image in spring 2008. It's a science-fiction comedy about four female bounty hunters who crash land on an alien planet and have to deal with killer giant robots and crazy aliens. Coming back to this one after a couple of weeks I'm struck by the quality of the artwork. I don't think anyone else comes close to nailing their own style as much as this one does. I think I said before I'm not a big fan of the style, but still, I can't find a duff panel in the whole strip. The consistency is amazing, but what amazes me more is that I took against this from the start because of the bad writing and forgot to take in the quality of the artwork because of it.
I don't really want to see Alpha Monkey again unless that awkward tone is banished from his voice. Perhaps the authors couldn't round his character out quickly enough - after all Bart Simpson wasn't that endearing until a lot later in the series when his weaknesses were revealed and we could all sympathise with him.
I still don't think the synopsis can survive intact as it is, but perhaps there's a little more mileage in the strip than I first thought. If the creators could get it working on two levels, one for adults and another for kids, it might help. Go back and watch Shrek again for clues.
In the meantime I'd really like to see this artist and this style on a totally adult themed strip - the juxta-whatever would be interesting!
Oof! Okay! Nice, tight, kid-friendly artwork. As for the story, this is a one-note joke. It's a super-hero parody set on a planet of monkeys. Okay. We get it. Where do we go from here except retell the same joke over and over every installment? Not much depth here.

I thought this was pretty darn funny. Great art, great color. I could see this as a Saturday morning cartoon. I dig the cheese monster.

I like it. No problem for me with the "borrowed stuff". I mean, everything is borrowed on everything, that doesn't mean this Alpha Monkey is not gonna be fun.

Great art and design. Not very enthusiatstic about the writing or concept, but i can see where a young audience would be interested.
The art is great and exciting and the story is funny. It is obviously made for young people, not old nerds.
The art is nice but the dialogue seems stilted, and forced. Every joke-ish line seems to have been prepped for the story, making it seem very unnatural. The story itself reminded me of Underdog as somebody up from me said, and it had that Superman feel with the alter ego business. In short, sorry to say it is not that original an idea, and the artwork may not carry it past the dialogue issues and junior high school feel to the jokes. It is also hard to determine whether the plotlines will stand up with only 8 pages of intro.

I liked the art work and it's a very imaginative and original idea but for some reason it seems a little bland.

The art is beautiful...but I don't really like the concept. I know I should love it...it's got Monkeys fer cryin' out loud. I just can't seem to put my finger on it.

I really like this one... I like serious comics most and a very few funny ones and this one is among them. Characters are dynamic and the way they are drawn, it's like they are almost alive
great art, don't care for the premise though, It's like another version of underdog to me. The story itself does keep me interested.
Some of the snappiest art here. I will check back in just to look at it, even though the dialogue really isn't my style. Love the underwear-on-the-outside gag.

I like this, i mean i think its cool. It gives me the feel of cartoons from the early 90's. Fresh looking characters and pretty good skills. ^_^
Not feelin' this one much (which is weird 'cause I'm into almost anything having to do with monkeys or gorillas). The art is great though, really dug it. I guess I had a hard time liking the character because he started off being bullied and dealing well with it but then was a bit of a bully himself. It's as if he wasn't hero or anti-hero enough.
This could make a cool children's book or cartoon. What kid wouldn't like a "hero" that lives on a gorilla planet, calls the monkey boys "turd monger" and "general poop smeller", beats up bullies *and* monsters and even wears his underwear on the outside?.! Yeah, this would make a funny.

not bad not bad at all but i do have to say this is not very orginal you can see elements from other comics like superman, and the hulk are the easyest to see but i do have to say it lookes the most perfestional
enjoyed the art but the story is too elementary for me although that doesn't mean it's not good. If your audience is tweens then I think you've got something here. I would watch it as a cartoon though (with less poop jokiness but to be fair little boys love those jokes).
I like a lot of the gags in this.
I think the format hurts it.
I really enjoy the art; but, the writing just doesn't grab me. To be fair, as other people have said about themselves, I'm not really the demographic to be enjoying fart jokes and stuff like that.

Great job guys! The art rocks, the concept is funny (LOVE the "disguise")... the protagonist is (as mentioned by others) a bit annoying (which is the biggest downside).

I think it's a hilarious nod toward traditional super-hero comics that AM literally wears his underwear on the outside of his pants.
...i know ill sound like nine but the banana eating on page 4 seemed very phallic
I enjoyed the art and timing of this comic, although the speech was well done, it didn't appeal to me personally probably because the name calling was a bit lacking. "General Poop smeller"? ...Blaugh. But yeah well drawn, interesting take on super hero genre...The only thing I could suggest else, is some darkening the backrounds a bit for greater foreground pop...But thats probably just a personal preference of mine. Good job guys!
Nice art, and I could totally see this as an animated series on tv... that is, if the protagonist weren't such an asshat. The story is ho-hum, and is just ripping off the Fairly OddParents movie, anyhow.
I think that the art is very good and the story is fairly unique with interesting characters.

That's some articulated young boy! This seems one of those crazy concepts one come up with during a conversation with the friends. The concept will tire itself out if it just try to make fun of comics and cartoons clichés. The art takes the cake. Great and dynamic page layout!
- Monkey Not So Shine -
I love the art and visual storytelling. The coloring is pretty good too. The story didn't resonate with me at all though. The high concept is interesting but the execution is all 6th grade jokes and disjointed dialogue. I hate to sound insulting, but this comic didn't make me smile once ... much less laugh and my gut tells me laughter was the intention.
I will keep reading for now but I'm hoping the script will improve, otherwise I will be passing on this title in the future.
Ok, this was the immediate first comic I wanted to read when I came to Zuda yesterday. I like it but I don't love it,yet. I see a future and hope to see more. I also can't help but think Banana Man meets Spiderman meets Superman meets Planet Of The Apes meets Power Puff Girls. Good stuff anytime a hero underpants are on the outside.
i like what i see, yea so what, the main character is cocky. Most super heroes the characters are all egotistical lol. i give credit for not watering down that aspect and i'm sure there is some playing around with that in mind. good job on art as well, i like the choice of shots used a lot.
