We Make Clouds is an episodic, comic-strip style comedy series about life inside a mid-size marketing firm called Vantacor. The series’ events are mostly seen from the perspective of DREW, a recent college graduate and the newest member of the Vantacor team. As a junior copywriter, Drew’s immediate supervisor and closest colleague is TED, the slick, sycophantic head of editorial who is more concerned with his own success than the mentoring of Drew. The company’s president is JANE KRANSKY, a successful entrepreneur struggling to manage the office's hodgepodge of personalities. Other members of the team include: K-Y, the graphic design whiz with an impenetrable hip-hop demeanor; RONNIE, the disgruntled tech guy and all-around pop culture geek; PRIYA, the icy receptionist who is probably the smartest person in the office; and CAMILLA, the lazy, slovenly office manager with attitude.

good ****!
Popped in for another reading. 1 more apology... defining Laugh after I misspelled it on purpose was the stupidest thing I have ever seen. I will leave funny up to good comedians like yourselves. Hope to see more, will be checking...
Well, I guess that's it folks! I can't say I'm very surprised - Safe Inside built up an impressive, ultimately insurmountable lead - but I think we held our own. I know I speak for J when I say, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! The encouragement and support we received was just amazing, and we really couldn't have come this far without it.
*******************************
Although I'm not sure where, We Make Clouds will continue. The best thing to do is check in with the blog - www.wemakeclouds.wordpress.com - or pop by this page occasionally. If/when we relaunch, I promise you won't be kept in the dark!
*******************************
@ Illinest: We've been awaiting for you! Thanks for the final review.
@ suttercain: It was indeed an honor to compete against you and the rest of the competitors. Good luck with Lifespan!
*******************************
Again, thank you all!
It was an honour to compete with you this month. Best of luck. I'm sure we'll see "We Make Clouds" pop up somewhere.
Sweet stuff you got here!

Hi
you have my vote
Adios!!
:)
Hoping you win!!
These illustrations are really great! I hope you win :)
Mike, I think you're brilliant. I hope you do more of these, it was hilarious. Good luck, buddy!
You got my vote and I made it a favorite, good luck.
Been waiting for you, RKB! Thanks for stopping by and providing a highly detailed review. If office comics ain't your thing, We Make Clouds is obviously a tough sell. Regardless, we appreciate your comments and hope to get the chance to win you over later.
Glad to see you back J I really enjoyed your other comic T.A.S. on Zuda.
********************************************************
Humor isn't really my genre of choice (with some exceptions), and the work place/ in a cube office humor isn't really my thing. I don't think any of the creators did anything bad, it's just not my kind of read 3/5 stars from me.
**********************************************************
SCREEN 1 Of course I really enjoyed the art throughout, the setting just isn't that big of a thrill for me. If it was in color I would probably like it better, I think color would help. The letters are fine easy to read. my fav line from this page was no one smiles this early unless their quitting or new. Nice line the swipe of the flowers, and rehab for happy people comment.
*********************************************************
SCREEN 2 Some pretty good dialogue between the characters but meeting your boss, before you know it's your boss has become kind of a standard gag in this kind of strip.
**********************************************************
SCREEN 3 the k-y joke and the 'why we wear ties' thing was pretty funny. I do like the pace of the comics, good screen composition.
***********************************************************
SCREEN 4 I didn't know if ted was a idiot, or just messing with his boss with the buzz words, but I liked the frazzled look in the last panel on Drew's face.
********************************************************
SCREEN 5 Drew doesn't know who spider-man/stan lee is, how does that happen??? Seems kind of O.O.C. -out of character. It was still a funny line but I would have figured if Ronnie was such a pop culture fan he would have used a more obscure reference than "with great power...."
********************************************************
SCREEN 6 The deadline thing was pretty funny, one of the best screens in the comic, and really well done art-wise J.
***********************************************************
SCREEN 7 The read the card thing had some pretty good dialogue interaction between the characters, but it all seemed really familiar.
*******************************************************
SCREEN 8 After 'deadline' this is the funniest screen. Good panel layout and I really enjoyed the whole we make clouds comment, it's nice the origin of the strip has a purpose.
***********************************************************
It wasn't really my kind of read/genre, but I'm impressed you have done so well in the ranks. Just not the kind of story i could really get into, guys.
Hey everyone, our interview is up at www.zudafan.blogspot.com if you want to check it out. As always, thanks for voting!!!
***************************************
We've also got some new stuff on www.wemakeclouds.wordpress.com and more Drew tweeting at www.twitter.com/WeMakeClouds. And one more thing: if you ever felt like being friends with a fictional character, look for "Drew Ofwemakeclouds" on Facebook.
***************************************
@ manekochan: Good luck to you too!
@ Glory: Awesome, thanks.
@ tekende: I have to disagree with you on the art, but I'm glad you dug the comic overall.
I love the writing, but the artwork could use some work, I think. Overall a great comic!
Voted!
@theDood: Cool! Can't wait! Good luck you guys!
Ahhh, the calm, blissful, final days of another Zuda competition. . . breathe it in deep, everyone. Y'know, if the birds werent chirping so loudly on these beautiful last days you could totally hear me grinding my teeth while crying and pulling my hair out.
Like everybody's been warning, the end is near! And while the support thusfar has been spectacular (more than we could have hoped for), we still need VOTES and FAVORITES!
We only have until Friday, so sign up, recruit your friends and help push this little engine that could to the top of the mountain!
*************************************************
@ dusk until dawn: Thanks for the across-the-pond kudos! We hope we can bring you more Clouds.
@ niklopez: We're certainly proud of how far we've come, but we can go farther! Spread the word!
@ steve steiner: We're trying, Steve! Maybe Crocodile Man can scare up some votes?
@ johnnystorm: Good observation, fearless letterer. But we need more favorites...
50840, wow, that's a lot of views...
okay guys! nows ypur chance to make your move! get that top spot. only a few days left!
after truly giving this a chance and reading it over, i couldn't help but smile and relate to a few of the events/dialogue that were brought up throughout the strip. to reach an audience like that is certainly something to take a level of pride in. good job on such an achievement, and all the best!
This is by far the best comic on here i've seen so far.
I love it! You have my vote and I will be checking back here :o)
@ leontolo: Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks!
@ manekochan: Love it!!! Regardless of what happens Friday, we'll be sending some crossover love Dango's way soon. Rise, dailies, rise!
Earlier on the page I said "4" was my favorite. It's not 4. It's 5. I feel the need to clarify that.
Anyway, the real reason I stopped by...
The Dango/We Make Clouds Zombie movie! Rise of the Dailies! God help us all!
http://manekochan.deviantart.com/art/Rise-of-the-Dailies-110869877
THIS COMIC HITS HOME TO THOSE IN THIS BIZ. GREAT WRITING, GREAT ART. FIZZLE DIZZLES DA SHIZZLE FA RIZZLE. Shorties in the hot tub eating all the fruitloops.
Howdy, gang! As always, thanks for the kind words and attention. We wouldn't be doing nearly this well without your constant support!
**************************************************
@ JLongo: Masterful responses, partner. I should probably get out of the way and let you work the crowd from now on.
@ Um: Thanks for stopping by! I like the name.
@ Bob C: We aim to please. (Btw, Ultraman says hi.)
@ manekochan: I want in on the hello action! So, well... hello!
@ JGSTYLE: We like smiles and laughs, but identifying with the main character is key. I think you'll like what's coming up.
@ Constantly Rich: Thanks for giving it a chance.
@ mr. walldog: We're trying. If we can just get all the office drones in the world to unite...
@ zvelsera: I'll let J answer this one, but I agree with you - his art IS awesome!
jay your art has always been awesome, and it's so cool to see it online! i miss you dearly and i hope all is well.
The Dood....insightful....so true to reality that my ulcer began to flare.....just as it use to before I escaped the dysfunction of a like environment years ago. Keep this thing going so that office drones everywhere will have the gift of laughter...because God knows they need it !
I want to rag on this just cause its my style, however, I do think its the best comic in the competition. That Bryy_Miller character said what I'm thinking.
I think anyone who has dealt with the inane culture of marketing or pretty much any office job can appreciate this. I'm normally more into super-heroes but I couldn't help but smile and laugh because I identified with the main character so much. That pretty much says it all -good work!
@JLongo: Ha ha! :D Hello, back.
This is awesome! i want more!!
Caught word of this and checked it out. Glad I did. Good luck with the competition.
Hello All!
Thanks for the good words, WE MAKE CLOUDS is fighting hard for #1 and all the comments make me content having worked on this. (Yes, even yours, dreams[on]toast) But the competition isn't over and we need all the support (aka: votes) we can! Okay, here's some scattered reaction to some comments:
@ JFx, thanks for the kudos, we've been pushing this comic A LOT in hopes to make this happen! A Pro's props are always a good thing.
@ modchris, that's just awesome to read and totally makes the work we've put into this worthwhile. We'll keep doing what we've been doing and hopefully these 8 screens are enough to have folks keep us on for more! Spread the word!
@ jwawne, most appreciated!
@ pathnine, Wow. Thanks for such art praise. Mike & I have worked really hard to integrate it all into what you see, which so far seems like quite a success!
@ manekochan, nothing in response to anything specific. just wanted to say Hi and nod to the dailies!
@Irsteiner, please be kind. Looking forward to it!
@ famished, thanks, we dug that you dig! Spread the word of CLOUDS to your other cubes!
@ Infernalbbq, if anything, these 8 pages are a good learning curve, thanks to all the comments, we can address certain things in later comics, and given the opportunity to proceed, I think you'll find CLOUDS more and more to your liking. Thanks for the in-depth comments, they are always appreciated.
@ dreams[on]toast, Comedy is tough, especially to win on Zuda; and this is no secret. I think it says a lot that this comic is at #2 right now considering the pre-conceived notions people have towards comedy's let alone office comedy's. We're up against A LOT of comics that have a strong, immediate fan base on Zuda which is tough to tackle. That said, I think we're doing something right for this to have come so far. Don't get me wrong, I'm psyched you like it and hope to have your vote, I just think we can give a new tone to Zuda as well as what to people might think of as a standard office comedy. Going into this, we were well aware that many people think office comedy is lack-luster and full of average-ness and predictability and have no plans to support that stereotype at all. This is my promise to you and to everyone else who has the same concerns.
@ the dood, um....yer werds are purdy
This is not entirely awful.
I think it says a lot about the calibre of entries this month that my favourite is an office-based funny strip, a genre i find entirely lack-lustre and full of average-ness and predictability.
I wish i'd got a comic together for this month . . .
I like this comic! The art is perfect and I enjoyed reading it. Good luck! -Dan
I really liked this nice work guys
Thanks for the comments, everyone! The response has been phenomenal, and rest assured, we're still working the promotional angles to get the vote out:
* We're trying to get a little team-up action going with Philadelphia's best morning show - Preston & Steve. Check them out at www.prestonandsteve.com!
* As usual, you can find our production blog at www.wemakeclouds.wordpress.com. We're constantly updating it with announcements and early artwork.
* Drew is still twittering away - www.twitter.com/WeMakeClouds
* And you can always find us on Facebook (search for the We Make Clouds page) and mySpace (www.myspace.com/wemakeclouds)
*****************************************************
Thanks a million for all your support! And now, on to the comments...
@ infernalbbq: I hear ya. The ones you dislike were actually among the first written. That "breathing space" you mention is something we're trying to explore, and we'll be opening the narrative format even more if we continue. Thanks for reading!
@ famished: I was waiting for you to show up! We hope to keep cubicle humor on the menu for quite a while.
@ lrsteiner: Hi, Liz. We'll be touching base with you over email. Thanks for setting these up.
@ JFx: We're trying! (see above)
@ modchris: Wow, you really made our day. Thanks!
This is a phenomenal comic. What amazed me the most was the re-readability factor. I've read this strip a half dozen times and still think it's great. Everything's (from art to writing to pacing to lettering) is so clean it would make martha stewart jealous. I really don't have any constructive comments for you because I think you should just keep doing what you've done thus far.
amazing work, I like it a lot, is time to move the promotion and come with your votes.
Dear Zuda Competitors/Creators,
I’m the creator of the Zuda fan blog, and I would love to interview all of this month’s creators. If you would be willing to answer 5-10 questions, to be posted on the Zudafan blog, please contact me at: zudafan@gmail.com.
Feel free to check out the blog: zudafan.blogspot.com
Thanks!

I dig cubicle humor *peers over his cubicle*
I liked a lot of the humor, even though the whole 'BEGIN PAGE- set up for one liner and, and... and here it comes! -END PAGE' -format of one page funnies tends to make my skin crawl. I think your comic works better in the areas where there's more breathing space and a hint of narrative shines through, where it feels like the humor is there to serve the story, as opposed to the story existing to house one-liners.
.
So I LOVE the last page and I hate pages 7 and particularly 6. But then again, I guess I laid my cards on the table at the beginning of this rant by declaring my narrative-leaning bent so to speak, arf. :) Good luck in the comp!
@ mpd57: There's definitely something to recommend in each of these comics, so thanks for the handy voting guide.
@ Bruce Vans: Compliments in any language are appreciated.
@ Smektala: Thanks and congrats on the AICN write-up!
@ Bryy Miller: I think we've considered everything, short of requesting that #1 drop out. Maybe if we asked nicely...
@ Gnar Duce: No worries! The world may disagree, but I thought it was funny.
Sorry about my lame humor attempts on your space. Plus, I forget that I, (Italian/American), am not just addressing Stealth, (French), about a made up Bavarian word, but the whole world. Thoughtless, read Creepily. That's Not how it was meant. Again, Sorry. Great stuff, Good luck, hope for more!
Have you thought about buying adspace on YuGiOh The Abridged Series?
A very enjoyable read. And the last panel is genius. Thumbs up!
