Lily of the Valley
Lily of the Valley is © Adam Atherton
A love story for the over and the under medicated, the disenchanted, the excessively violent, and the soft-spoken.
In the small Eastern Canadian town of Elmwood, a teenage girl who commits murders to cope with her mental instability, falls for the elusive night roaming boy who has been taking all of the blame.
Love between the two blossoms as their personal obsessions bring their lives closer and closer together. Redemption and renewal for the two will lay in unveiling the secrets of Elmwood’s rich history before the town, consumed with paranoia, closes in on them.
Welcome to a valley of emotional turbulence.

Wonder where he's taking Lily off too...I hope she wakes up soon! He did sorta "save" her from the cops...in some way, I mean he could've just ditched her and booked it to save himself! Then again he could just be out for some nonspecific revenge against her...Dx
Great artwork and can't wait to find out more about who the guy is. Seems like a hero kind of guy at first glance. I do have one question, though. Does Lily imagine the heads of her victims talk to her, or do they literally talk? Maybe it's something that'll get answered later anyway, but it's a nice mysterious touch.
I was just going to say that, Lude! Instead I'll say: Excellent work, every page ... inspiring.
Excellent work, every page ... compelling.
Nice work, the story is moving ahead well. I like the blood filled pages. haha
*gasps* He did NOT just hit Lily! Go get 'im Lily!
Woow man great work, :O waiting for more :D .
Well done, Adam! I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for each new page.
"Now we can begin!"
Awesome. Dude looks nuts!
Cool as ever, but Alarid: you wish she had some 'redeeming qualities'? How can you not love Lily? She's a sympathetic hero!
LotV has been consistently awesome. I only wish it updated faster.
STAB HIM WITH A STICK
I don't know how, but you have me sympathizing with Lily. Could be that I've had my own struggle with panic disorders, and while our means of coping may differ, I can relate. At any rate, good stuff man, hope she kicks ghost boy's a$$.
Hey Adam, threw out a little plug for you and LotV in an interview I just did a couple weeks ago for Love Buzz.

Keep up the good work!
Oooh I wanna know what happens next! A new character? Some sorta character that's connected to the rat? =D Thank god Lily made it out of there.
It's 2010, redeemable qualities are incidental. ;)
I wish she could have some redeeming qualities.
Thanks guys. :)

Your depiction of Lily using positive behavioral coping mechanisms to help her better kill is awful, dark and captivating. Superb composition on these screens - love the use of physiological cues and perceptions (heartbeats, breathing, etc.) to make the reader know what she's going through.
This is getting better with each update, and you've got me coming back for more. Keep it up!
You've got to give kudos to Lily as a killer. Page 20 shows her to be a pretty efficient and methodolical when it comes to delivering death.
Nice stuff as ever. Happy New Year and here's to more mindblowing Lily of the Valley!
Newest pages look great as well.
Where DID that head go? Happy new year!
Happy New Year!
Can't wait to see where the story goes in 2010!
Hope you continue with the blog too - excellent stuff :)
Thumbs up! Can't wait for more.
NICE!
In another world lily could have been an acomplished assassin, and the bloody pose on page 21 is super cool.
She reminds me of a tiger in the final pannel, probably the way she's sorta crouched with her right arm all positioned like a claw. But what she's narrating gives us a deeper insight to her mentality and how she views her hobby, and other people. Or it does to me, at-least. XD (Probably reading too far into things again)
Well done boss. Merry Christmas!
my face @ page 20: O__O

K005 - Thanks. I've thought of that movie alot as inspiration actually. Page 15 when she's listing the meds, I was hoping to feel Seus-like. Like in Grinch when the narrator lists off all the Whos' instruments, etc. Glad you made that connection. lol
.
Thanks everyone :)

Watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" today...the lines from the movie are like the ones from page 15, which happens to be my favoritest page! =D (I like making strange connections like that...)
AWWWWWWWWWWWW YEEAAAHHH
I feel really guilty about this but that last frame made me laugh out loud.
thats what i like to see! lots of blood
I'm Loving this comic
Excellent. Simply better with each additional page. You're writing, pacing and compositions are getting better and better. I can't wait to see where it is all heading. And should you ever choose to make that movie version you know who to call.
Thanks Dwight!
.
Thanks Caanan! That's how I'm picturing it! lol
.
I posted a Youtube video of the song on the blog if anyone wants to listen and see what I had in mind.

If this was a movie, and you had a violent outburst of a young girl throwing knives at police officers to the tune of 'don't worry, be happy', well, that would just be awesome. ;o)
Excellent page, man! Keep 'em coming!
